One of the x86's disadvantages is that there are so many ISA variants; unless you ship source code, you have to make a stab at which one(s) exist in themachine running your library code. The linux mob are beginning to consider defining subsets of the ISAs, and trying to deal with those https://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=news_item&px=Linux-x86-64-Feature-Levels

The trick here is to neither ship source code nor machine code, but to ship some intermediate form (e.g. intermediate code from the compiler taken out prior to final optimisation and code generation) that gets converted into actual machine code (including machine specific optimisations) on the target machine. The OSF tried to promote this with Architecture Neutral Distribution Format (ANDF) but it never caught on. Why not, I don't know; to me it seems like such an obvious solution ("Oh, that's obvious!" once something is explained to someone is usually, IMHO, the marker of a truly great idea.) Note that this was being promoted years before the similar but different idea of Just In Time compilation came to be so popular.

Nope, it's missing the 4lb lump hammer on the other handle, the tube for the WD40, and the hook for a reel of Gaffer tape.

@mnem Nah its alright, I currently don't have a use for the ultracleaner, the reference to doing half a board at a time was saying that it would have been handy to have been able to pop the board in from my 4503. I must have scrubbed that thing a dozen times with IPA 70% before I beat it into submission. That was approximately 190 square so would have to be done in 2 stages. My current cleaner is only 140 x 120 x 45 and has already done a few smaller boards and today I cleaned up some old HP knobs that I plan to use on my latest project, a signal tracer. Popped them in for 20 minutes, and they came out looking like new ones, apart one has some red paint residue on the top.

The seller is a Chinese company masquerading as many different sellers but all are based in Leicestershire. All the UK based sellers of said cleaners are in Leicester which is a bit of a give away I'd say  :-DD but everywhere else they are well over the £ton, they had it listed at £70 and I finally got it for £56, thats a result.

Weirdly the logo for my eldest’s new school is very close to umbrella corporation. The younger years look like new umbrella recruits. Probably as biohazardous as well.

On the page 2525

Original by: Zager & Evans - In the Year 2525
Songwriter:  Richard Lee Evans
Video

Lyrics modified by BU508A and with a little help from some friends :)

On the page 2525, if TEA is still alive
If scopes can survive, they may find

On the page 3535
In the TEA thread they tell no lie
Everything you read, think and say
Is in the post you write today

On the page 4545
You grab your tools, grab your wire
All are watching you to despair
While a device resists to repair

On the page 5555
You still curse the same device
Your tongue got lots to do
To find the right angle, helping through

On the page 6565
With this challenge your skills thrive
Some new device must come your way
So rummage in through the evil bay, oh yeah

On the page 7510
If bitseeker's a coming, he oughta make it by then
Maybe he'll look around and say
Guess it's time for some catch up today

On the page 8510
Bitseeker's gonna nod his mighty head
He'll say I'm pleased where TEA has been
Won't tear it down and start again, whooho-oooh

On the page 9595
There is no doubt, TEA's still alive
The fleabay has been cured clean
Repaired things, no garbage seen

Now its been ten thousand pages
Lots of gear of all ages
For what, we excatly knew, the TEA reign is never through
But through eternal night, the twinkling of Nixie light
Not very far away, test gear from the yesterday ...

On the page 2525, if TEA is still alive
If scopes can survive, they may find ...
