The balance of the capacitors from the first order are installed. Still have to order 11 additional plus a 75V zener in the -150V supply. Been noticing some drift.  So this project on hold until the rest of parts arrive.

An old gray beard with an attitude.

@BU508A: Juicy...!  >:D

Better watch out; med will be along shortly to mug you for that connector, whether he can actually use it or not...

In OTHER News...

The Juki is just BUSTING my balls today.        $66 in parts; $63 in Shipping/Duty. |O

Could get it all off AliEx for about $52 shipped; except of course delivery somewhere around SEP-FUCKING-TEMBER... if at all.  :palm:

Anyone remember that Tektronix 571 curve tracer from two weeks ago?

I was determined to make a try and upped my limit by a hundred Euro (yes, the plural of Euro is Euro, at least in Germany).
The auction ended Wednesday morning. Well, my (new) limit was already reached on Tuesday night ... Nevertheless, I was curious how far it would go. Not having a direct link at work, I used my usual search term - should find it within the first few dozen items. Before I did so, however, something else caught my eye. Only partially working, BIN for 1160 €. I never payed that much for a used TE, let alone a defective one. But I didn't get the curve tracer, and I've always wanted this piece of equipment.

I couldn't pass up this opportunity without giving it a decent try, so I would not have to be angry with my cheapish self later on. Made a decent offer which got accepted within a few minutes. For a moment, I was dumbstruck. Should I be happy or sad?

Shipping turned out to be a rather complicated matter (too heavy for DHL), but the seller was very helpful and selected a shipping company that actually brought the thing while I was at home.

And tomorrow I will unveil what it is. 8)

PS: The curve tracer went for 955 €

Well, political situation is not the AfD being Nazis, Nazis are National Socialists which the conservatives are most definitely not.
It is a different matter how they are portrayed. Our Left Party just passed a resolution to shoot the top 5% of the population (shoot the rich) or put them in forced labor camps (no, you don't necessarily hear that in the news).

If that happens what will you do with the queens, kings, earls, dukes, sirs, and knights? Toss them in the harbor with the tea?  :-DD

If that happened we'd be the single largest voting block in the whole Union. I think the thing you need to be asking is what we would be going to do to you.  >:D

Some good news on the 585A. I removed the two bad diodes from the power supply, and also pulled the K600 time delay tube to permanently disable the B+ for now. The scope lives a little more!

In case you guys didn't catch it, Marc's series on resurrecting an HP 8082A pulse gen is worth a watch. I'll leave it at that to avoid spoilers.

His channel has really grown on me since they pulled off that AGC restoration. Marc and all the dudes he collaborates with have serious chops.  :-+

Huh. Tried the new PG502 again and it did not become better in the meantime.
But the one I got first as 'defective' is actually the one less shot up.
I took a fuse from the new one to replace the one blown and it did not blow.
No power light, but the amplitude controls work as advertised.
At 100MHz, it works in a way that is consistent with what one expects of a pulse generator.
At 250MHz, it outputs something with a frequency around 250MHz.
I think I will proceed with this one. That would mean that I can't complain about the recent one (which I bought as 'working'),because I need the parts.
