here is, as promised previously, the teardown of my Hameg / Rohde & Schwarz 8112-3 6 1/2 digit DMM.
It is a nice meter and one thing on this meter I'm finding funny are the illuminated input ports.
Depending on what mode you have chosen, the input ports are illuminated.
This is the frontside, looks very clean and nice. Which is, I think, the whole motto of this meter.

I assume, that this is the brain of the meter. I think, it is a PIC µC but somebody decided to scrap off the ID.
At the bottom in the middle there is a rms-to-DC converter, an
