digging through boxes for useful stuff and decided that I absolutely must have my collection of data books at hand. here's the first batch:

still have to find a place for another set of shelves to get out the TI yellow book set and another twenty or thirty smaller vendors.

Unusual Fluke pr0n. Axillary temperature measurement fun. So that's 39.8oC  :o. Have calibrated it against my Welch Allyn unit and it's bang on.

Parametamol (tylenol for you yanks) time  :(
For accurate temperature readings you need a proper medical thermometer, you're probably not as hot as that.

K type thermocouples are only good to +- 1-2 C so not up to human monitoring.
I was getting at that but could have been more clear.  :)

I’ve got a proper Welch Allyn Suretemp unit as well (which cost more than the Fluke and is definitely medical grade!). I was using it for comparative measurements to see if the Fluke was any good for this purpose. It turns out that it is within 0.1oC of that unit on any measurement so far at least within the limited axillary range. Seebeck coefficient depends on impurities so you can’t just grab a thermocouple off the shelf and use it but you can calibrate one. I have to keep myself busy. Now I’m worrying about thermocouple ageing. I could turn into a temperature nut  :-DD

Incidentally temperature improved and feeling a bit better. The human immune system is a rollercoaster but quite effective.

Yep that’s what the earlier flukes suggest using for calibration in the service manuals.

Nothing wrong with an Ice Slush or Boiling water for most but they are the 3 1/2 digit DMM version against a 6 1/2 digit requirement for me ;)

I have been playing with an idea on the bench that needs 0.1C accuracy so I need to be well inside that on my end.

** for Boiling point use Demin water and do the altitude correction thing too for those not in the know!!

There are lies, damned lies, statistics - and ADC/DAC specs.

Holy crap, Kosmic was right. It WILL go out to 7 digits.  :scared: :scared: :P :-DD

@med6753, in the 10V range pressing the "AVG" button will put the meter in averaging mode and display 7.5 digits

Did you not notice he was restrained under a net...?

My observation is that such means are usually reserved for targets that are dangerous if you get too close.

:-DD No, the explanation is simpler than that. I laid down earlier in the afternoon with the intention of a short nap. Wound up sleeping many hours and right through our Discord session. Oh well.  :-// There's always next week.
