If you read and agree to their terms and it's an informed decision, it's a choice. If you read their terms and can't understand and hate them, or if you don't bother and just hate them for having terms, it's paranoia.

I never had to do any such thing with my GoPro Session; it just worked. I never wanted their software for anything except offline video editing; if you're using their studio for pics (actually, if you're using a GoPro for pics) you're wasting your time. The WiFi interface was never worth the hassle in real-time; trying to "frame a subject" within the fisheye effect of a GoPro is like trying to kill a swarm of bees with a pistol.  :palm:

I agree with having to sign in to the mobile app being BS; it never had that when I used it, and while smartphones are getting better about privacy and security, they're still just a incessant data leak in your pocket. With the app for my Session the only thing you signed into was your social media, which I cared fuck all about.

So... you wanna get a sports car and look for some sweet young thang to distract you from the Reaper rattling his scythe at you; we dig it. If you're trying to tell us you're gonna be scarce in here, well... just don't let the screen door hit ya on yer way out!   ;)

mnem
Also, we expect pictures. And detailed teardowns!!! :-DD
They changed the app overnight and caught many people out. Check the link I posted earlier for people calling GoPro out on their forum. The app could definitely come in handy but they killed much of that overnight.

Some people buy boats, motorcycles and cheap women when they hit their mid life crisis. Yours entails a bicycle and Rigol AWG. You're fine.

Even the cheap women aren't. They're just slightly less expensive than a gold digger.  :o :palm:

Found a real unicorn on ebay. The last multimeter made by Solartron, the SI 7063.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Schlumberger-SI-7063-6-1-2-digit-Digital-Multimeter/124108190866

Woah! At first, I thought that photo was from the eBay listing. :o :-DD

Most (if not all ?) unit was recalled and eventually destroyed due to a rare bug in the ASIC. In certain rare condition the meter can show 0V when there is actually some voltage on the input.

Sounds like no-name meters you'd find on a regular basis on the interwebs. >:D

Too bad the seller is ignoring my offer, and it's a bit expensive at 600$ for a bugged meter  ^-^

Yeah, just a bit.

This is how it looks like (again crappy photo due to smartphone cam and bad light conditions):

That's just too good! Bravo, sir.

Seven pages?  Seven?  In twenty-four hours?

Damn, don't you all have anything better to do?  >:D

I clearly don't, since I just went and read every single post on 'em.
...

Pffft! Only seven? When I jumped on the thread this afternoon, I was on page 2079 and the newest page was 2097. An interesting coincidence of a numerical transposition, but still. :o ;D :horse:

Things move fast around here. Social distancing just gives it more gas. :-DD

Thank you, I appreciate that; it was a lot of work to get to this point.

One good thing that rack brings to me is that my stack isn't really a stack anymore since I can pull a single piece of it even if it's at the bottom and I don't have to remove all other things put on it.   :-+

I can now progress faster with repairing/modifying my TE hopefully.   :)
A life without TEA is possible but pointless.

Plus I need some time to plan a suitable mid life crisis  :-DD

I don't think planning is involved, more stumbling blindly, or plunging recklessly.

That’s exactly what I mean by planning. A former colleague of mine got a DWA license approved the other day and is now attempting to obtain a crocodile.

Perfect solution HamCycle camping with the Kids  ;D https://wd8rif.com/bicycle-mobile.htm

I'm not sure if I would call that stylish ... or tragic.

Definitely the latter. QRP out of a tent on a mountain somewhere has some street cred but not nerd bike  :-DD

Yup. Turns out I like making things but get bored after that  :-DD

I should throw that effort into product development. I’ve got some ideas.

@bd - I tend to agree, I got into satellite ham stuff for a while, interesting problems with antenna gain, different Doppler shifts on different frequencies for the up and down link, tracking - made 5 or so contacts, got bored so moved on to microwave stuff for a while.
EME stumped me - so I had a 'tantrum' and packed it up - I will get back to it eventually.
Currently repairing old gear some fun, some head f**k at times. If I get too annoyed I go mountain bike riding!
I do think I have a short attention span!

Nice.

I have a Julie Research KVD and a Datron 4902S fixed voltage divider full of Vishay oil-filled foil resistors.

I also have a lead Datron compensator, but haven't been able to find how to use it. Do you have any information about the Fluke compensator?
There are lies, damned lies, statistics - and ADC/DAC specs.

Manual is still on the Fluke site and youi can still request a quote to buy a 720A  :o https://au.flukecal.com/literature/product-manuals/721a-instruction-manual

Most of the resistors are only 3% so rolling your own wouldn't be that hard or expensive.

Yeh, sellers do dumb things, a few weeks ago I was looking for one of those dual TTi PSU's and found one about 50 miles away so I made them an offer which was declined and it was fair one, and I was willing to go and collect as well. They of course declined saying that they thought it was worth more. It finished the auction at precisely the same amount as my declined offer and then on top I daresay, they had to pack it up as well, arh well, win some, lose some, eh

I should have thought of that!

My compensator looks more complex, but there are several significant points in common. That manual should indicate the basic principles.

I'd be a lousy businessman and go bankrupt in no time. Once I bring a piece of equipment into the fold and fix it up and can't bear to turn around in sell it. Becomes like one of my children. Even that POS 485. Gotta have one "problem" child.  :-DD
