good to hear.   I assume somebody brought the availability of the Tek 24x5 Siemens fan motors to the threads attention?   https://www.ebay.com/itm/274013390896

med needs two.  :-DD

No I don't. I have a 465 and 465B parts mules with fully functional Siemens motors.

So there.  :P :P ;D

How are your skills as a necromancer? :)

Sadly lacking or else Cerebus wouldn't be going "Cerebus can see that 1ns peak is coming from junction capacitance there" (applies bypassing) "better, but why is the top of that square wave bowed, and why is it sloping down at the end if the input pulse is 100ns long, but not if it is shorter?" - Cerebus takes broadsword to LTSpice.

Seriously, I drafted, simulated and got this working (in spice) in an hour. Getting the linearity from ~1% to 0.1% was also easy, getting the 0.1% any lower is completely flummoxing me. I want to understand the causes and remedies before I start down the path of picking exotic hard to find low capacitance trannies. To be fair, I am trying to linearly stretch 50-100ns pulses to 1000 times longer or so (so they hang around long enough to count with a relatively slow clock), but in principle it is simple, but the devil is very much in the details.
Maybe you should ask Nonna, she looks more experienced than you in these matters  :-DD :-DD :-DD

Truth be told at the time I did not know that the fan motors in 465/465B/475/475A were the same as the 24XX. I have since been educated.

The torment that it caused was just a side benefit.  :-DD :-DD :-DD

I had to cancel my trip to the Mike and Key hamfest this weekend. Another rough couple of days around here.

So... eleven crates of gear and parts will remain in the storage room for the foreseeable future.

I am realizing that I am never going to get to fixing or refurbing much of this stuff and I am seriously considering offering it (five series tek scopes and plugins, RTTY gear, etc) for free and local pickup so it will be out of my space and mind.  I may list some of the smaller stuff here, too, if I can convince myself that properly packing and shipping it is worth the hassle.

Project for later today after I take care of some chores.

Capacitor replacement on an HP 6215A Power Supply. A little 500mA pipsqueak.  ;D

It's my only HP.  :P

What a cute little thing. :)

They're tiny - collect the whole set!  (the 12V one is missing from this group shot - must have been using it elsewhere.)

They are nice little supplies. I owned one for a short period. Unfortunately this was disappointingly short as the idiot who posted it did a bad job of packaging and the case got destroyed.  :--

Innocent here. It was on my watch list but I decided not to bid in the end. Two reasons: 1) I really must not acquire any more supplies without constant current capability, 2) I keep promising myself that I'm going to design and build a precision supply (Currently 1/2 designed).

Yes the lack of current limit is a little frustrating but they hard limit before the smoke usually comes pouring out. There’s an E3630 appeared as well although I don’t fancy that as it’s basically a digital 6236b. Price is pretty good. If it was one of their programmable models I’d jump on it.

Edit: on current limit, nearly everything I do has a series RC low pass in line which happens to act as an olfactory notification if something is going awry :)

You forgot the interim “floor collapse” stage  :-DD

I used to rent a room from a gal whose grandfather had been an old school ham.  She had his legal limit homebrew HF amp.  This thing is a 7 foot tall tower of 19" rack awesomeness.  I should post up a pic of it.

Anyway, the house was old, post and pier.  I had been in the basement dealing with a hot water heater problem and knew that there were structural "issues"

One day I came home from work and she had "rearranged".  She was most impressed with the spontaneous look of terror on my face when I saw that monster parked directly on a particularly worrisome bit of floor.

It did not collapse, thank god, and she has since had serious structural work done, but still keeps the rack parked against an exterior wall to this day.
