Thats beautiful, love that blue display, it reminds of my old Volkswagen Passat which had blue instrument lighting.

Shiny. And they are fun.

With mine it is worth using a Weston standard cell as a source, both to see the 7081s noise floor,  and to use it as a thermometer.

Don't ask about the cost of the connector!

Cheers to the TEAcrew and may 2020 deliver the instrument of each ones' dreams to your desks!

Outside the battle emulation is in full progress. Not trying to breath there. Maybe I should look for something adequate to read, so that the soundtrack could help the impression.

Happy new year, fellow TEAddicts!

I started my cosmetic repair of my HP 5359A time synthesizer and upgraded my 2nd Generation Core i5 notebook to Windows 10 tonight.
And since ~20min. its sounding like machine gun fire outside...  mixed with ambulance warning sirens.   :palm:

May 2020 be a good and healthy year and increase your repair stack..   >:D
A life without TEA is possible but pointless.

In the hanger nearby there were 6 others ........ two Eurocopters, Jet Ranger, R44 and others equally nice I forget......eyes as big as saucers like a kid in a candy store.  :-DD

We were gunna do something different but as it's 40 years exactly since the wife and I met and as wifey had never been in a chopper before we jumped at the chance. 1.30am home wasn't too bad, even for us oldies.  :)
If I support that by wishing you that this happy experience shall be the most relevant chopper related one for you both, that is the best I can give!
For me, 'helicopter' means 'TROUBLE', and this is not connected to the mode of flight or the 'ease' of maintaining one. Rather, whenever the higher echelons decided to facilitate my travels by means of a helicopter, it involves big problems, remote and inaccesible locations, high level attention or other unneeded complications to making things work.

As expected, the ESI resistor decade is electrically fine.
It just has 2 minor issues. On arrival, something small moved inside. Turned out to be a small washer.
As I had to open it because of this, you get INSIDE pictures.
Because of the construction, which does not ensure that the rear end of the standoff between front panel and rear panel becomes unscrewed, a larger toothed washer also came out of it in two parts.

I figured it out as follows: someone tried to open it and the small washer fell into the device from the right standoff. The perp also fiddled with the left standoff, which is directly screwed onto the GROUND binding post (with the large, toothed washer for contact towards the front panel). When retightening the screws from the rear, the large washer was damaged.

The other issue is the dial of the ohms 'tens'. As you can see, it is slightly out of alignment with the other ones.
I will seek guidance from TEGAM on how to correct this and how the assembly should be done to ensure that the correct thread is unscrewed. Maybe I'll ask for a washer.

Also, as I was already doing this, I have had a look at the inside of my Kelvin-Varley divider of the same provenience. No issues here, except some deformations of the sheet metal. And that is a special model which does not have the pointer bracket. It is not missing, as there is no hole for the screw in the lid under the dials. Working nicely. For now, I use it as it is.

So your neighbour asked you to tag along in order to foist work on you?
Small price to pay for that experience.  ;)
Very small price!!  :-+

When you consider Auckland is more than 2100km away from the fires,  it just shows how bad it is.  On more than one occasion, I have been able to look directly at the sun at 3pm without a cloud in the sky - because the smoke has reduced it to an orange disc.

Absolutely understandable.

(I am jealous.  The closest I've been to a real helicopter is about 50-60m from one of our Surf Lifesaving ones when it took off.)

We've been experiencing your smoke for some weeks now however it varies considerably. A couple weeks back the sky was a dirty cream color all day and an hour or so before sunset the yellow orb wasn't yellow but bright orange and dim enough that as you say you could stare at it without fear.
Was gunna take a pic 'cause it was nutthing like I'd seen before but instead just pointed it out to the wife and left it at that.  :-[  :palm:

Don't ask about the cost of the connector!

Yeah I know, got a quote for my two Solartron 7061 recently. I'm not planning to buy any connectors. You are probably going to hate me.

My 7081 will soon be how he should have been created from the get go. And no indecently expensive Fischer connectors are involved!

One of the benefits of moving from the east coast to the northwest... we get to watch the ball drop in Times Square at 9PM local time and so manage to be sound asleep well before midnight.

yes, i am old and i am okay with that.  ;D

Happy New Year to all my compatriots on the thread!

If that is a constant offset at all rotations, then simply loosen/rotate/retighten that dial using a hex key.

Sorry, I can't check my Dekapot/stat and tell you the right size, since I've had my right elbow seriously buggered.
There are lies, damned lies, statistics - and ADC/DAC specs.
