the little 213 killed again the 3.3nF in the charger PSU.  >:D
written is: 600VDC, used was: 1kV (RIP) the spare is the same.
A 2kV may be too large to pass in the little metal box.
done.

I must have missed something. What is that? It looks very cool.

a Tek 213,  mini scope with onscreen dmm.  ^-^

member of the 200 series µTek family, there was 5:  211, 212, 213, 214 and 221
the restoration of them is mostly a nightmare: damages by the acid of batteries.
I am still searching to find the Tek211 to be complete.

212, 213, 214, 221, 222 (DSO)

seeing the damn thing triggered a serious bout of gotta-get-one-of-those.   :palm:

Hey guys, was anyone aware that this little beauty sold on eBay 12th Dec in Liverpool for the princely sum of just £26? The only problem being of course, collection only.  :palm: 898740-0

That'll be why it went for £26. Stuff goes really cheap here when it's collect only too!

Any questions??? Didn't think so.  >:D :-DD

Oh....I did have to pull the tubes to adequately clean everything.

Next step is to pull this shield and clean the power transformer as well as the underside of the HV Oscillator.

Then pull both these shields. Both are elements of the HV supply. They will get extra special attention and cleaning.

I love how USPS is forced to deliver on Sunday to fulfill Amazon Prime Commitments. The BNC adapters for the CA plug-in arrived.

@med, that's nice and clean, although I have to admit, I don't think that I'd have the same level of commitment that you have to doing it in this fashion, but each to their own preffered methods, if it works (and it does) and you're happy doing it then I say why not?  :-+

Med, how humid can your climate get over there ?
That would be the one thing that would concern me with that B+ high voltage all through that Tek.
In a later solid state CRO's all the HV is restricted to the CRT workings so effectively any leakage affects only one area.....snap, crackle, pop !

Martin, is good cleanliness throughout required for properly accurate operation ?

During the Summer it can get pretty damn humid outside but the scope will be in an A/C controlled environment with much lower humidity.

And consider that it worked all these years with all that crud in it. Been checking visually and so far have not found the source of the loud snap and fail. But I do suspect it's in the HV cage. I'll be opening that up tomorrow.

I love the extremely specific warnings on the HV cages. Not just "DANGER HIGH VOLTAGE", but explains WHY they are dangerous, and why one is more dangerous than the other. That kind of attention to detail is why I love this old gear.

This turned up in a somewhat unstructured search on the local auction site...  Something of a trans-atlantic coöperation comes to mind, what with smurfs and explosions..

Irish charge at Falkirk? That won't be the Falkirk in Stirlingshire in Scotland then will it? Site of the Battle of Falkirk where William Wallace's Scots rebels lost to the English?

Somehow I doubt your commitment to your Irish ancestry if you can't tell the difference between the Scots and the Irish (it's quite easy really, the Jocks are blue from the cold and the Bogtrotters* are, well, boggy). Get confused like that and you'll end up drinking 8 pints of scotch or a dozen thimblefuls of Guinness. :-DD

*I'm allowed to say it because me mammy was a Bogtrotter (as am I technically because I qualify for Irish citizenship).
Anybody got a syringe I can use to squeeze the magic smoke back into this?

linux madness is upon me. while looking for an ethernet dongle, which is required to properly do the, hmm, upgrade of the DG831 i came across the minix stick (well it is more of a small black box) computer that i stashed away after a you-must-upgrade-windows-10-now upgrade led to the BSOD which then led to me saying fukkit i am not dealing with this now and tossing it in the peripherals crate in the furnace room.

and i thought, why don't i see if i can get linux running on it and use it for a server?   :palm:

so that's my afternoon gone. again. though i do have xubuntu running on the minix, which i will set up as a headless server for something that i didn't know i desperately needed to having running.

now where was that ethernet dongle?

Yes I know who is who. And yes I know the Scots ultimately lost the battle. King Edward (The guy with the crown) sends the Irish troops ahead of his troops to engage the Scots. The Irish and the Scots meet and greet each other rather than fight much to the dismay of King Edward. What was edited out was his remark "Damn Irish"  ;D

Edit....and that's the first time I've heard the Irish be referred to as "Bogtrotters" but it certainly fits.  :-DD
