the little 213 killed again the 3.3nF in the charger PSU.  >:D
written is: 600VDC, used was: 1kV (RIP) the spare is the same.
A 2kV may be too large to pass in the little metal box.
done.

(Attachment Link)

I must have missed something. What is that? It looks very cool.

a Tek 213,  mini scope with onscreen dmm.  ^-^

member of the 200 series µTek family, there was 5:  211, 212, 213, 214 and 221
the restoration of them is mostly a nightmare: damages by the acid of batteries.
I am still searching to find the Tek211 to be complete.

212, 213, 214, 221, 222 (DSO)

damn.  always wanted one of those.

back in about 1981 took a trip over to see the tool room guy in our logistics division and told him he needed to acquire one.  filled out the form and explained how it would be useful for checking T-1 repeaters on circuits we were installing on ranges in alaska and the left coast (cold weather and desert testing on the brand new abrams tank).  he called the next week and said to come pick up my portable oscilloscope!  woooohoooo!

bastard made me sign a hand receipt for a 465, an inverter (about 25 lbs), and a feckin' battery from a deuce and a half.

real funny guy he was.

I went stuff shopping in Kingston and figured I’d hit the supermarket there.

The last time I was taken shopping in Kingston, supermarkets were novel and small, and there was a horse butcher somewhere in the triangle by the "Kingston historic market".

It may be relevant that a nearby road is called "Horse Fair", and has been since time immemorial.

Ah yes. Horse Fair is still there. However now it’s beat boxing buskers, some toppled phone boxes, lots of ridiculous smelling people, humans dogems staring into the abyss of WhatsApp and rampant consumerist debt being generated. Ugh.

When I was (too) familiar with Kingston, the A307/A308/Clarence St and bit between Bentalls and the (non-existant) John Lewis was a one-way "roundabout". John Lewis was a car park, and that part of the Horse Fair a minor side road.

More entertainingly the Bentalls window panes were a yard deep, being heavily curved to that there were no reflections obscuring the goods on sale.

I'd mutter "Ah, happy times", but shopping was always involved.

I did enjoy my father taking me to look into the boilers in Kingston power station and the enormous piles of coal, though. Only time I've seen something similar as an adult is looking into the boilers in Stretham Old Engine. The people that built and operated those engines must have been regarded with awe.

Most of the "old Bentalls" is still there. Interestingly my first exposure to it prior to about 2005 was in this book which cemented my desire never to work in retail as it was a PR marketing piece  :-DD

Before that it was Wood Green Shopping City which seemed terribly futuristic when it opened. Now it looks like a hell hole and is one.

The Ender 3 has been put back into use today and the 3DP queue is running again. Today I'm printing a whistle and some light weight self designed antenna insulators for strength testing.

Just noticed this. All the B+ voltages can be checked in one convenient spot. The -150V is the reference. If it's fubar all the other voltages will be fubar too.

For static-sensitive gear, I'll usually wash the brush beforehand/dry on a towel and periodically during use to ensure it discharges through my body to the equipment chassis or ground-strap on my wrist.  :-/O

Look for "ESD Brush" on Ali-express. Lots of types available for only a few dollar. They are static dissipative, so when you are wearing a wrist wrap, they cannot accumulate any charge. Also very nice to remove flux from pcbs (use a different set for that off course)

Yeah, I've used them; they're nothing new. They may be "ESD-safe", but they suck. No thanks; I went back to the above practice over a decade ago & never looked back. I have work to get done and need tools that actually do the work; the tapered bristles and "just right" firmness of a decent natural fiber brush are the right tool for the job.

So what's the plan...? After using both a reasonable time to make sure no new gremlins manifest, send one down the road to pay for both of 'em...? Or do you really have need for 8 channels of that kind of bandwidth...?  :-DD

TBH, I've done this just because I can and I wanted to and they were free. I've got way more useful scopes than these, so ATM I'll just stash them back. Don't know what to do with them now. Anyway, I've productively used a setup of two 4ch scopes before, just to have two independent timebases like the old boat anchor dual beam CROs.

Just don't forget the 7th Law of TEA: There is no substitute for exhaustive burn-in testing.   Daily use is the best burn-in testing; it's how you notice "that one little thing..." ;)

So make sure you play with them a good long time before you stash them away.  :-+
