any lock can easily be picked by careful application of the appropriate amount of C4.
When out of C4 you can use a breacher round or a directed charge as well.

C4 (PE4 in England) is not that easy available, but I think, Thermit will do the job as well.
Or a thermal lance. :)

If you're going to pick a lock, it's 2019. Start with the USB port  :-DD

4Oculus: the HP Logic Dart
That I wanted to make it known to you following your interest in that logic probes was a very fortunate coincidence, as it made me look at the batteries. Will post some shots of it working AFTER cleaning the battery contacts! :phew: Still in time!

The HP E2310A is a nice try to follow up the mentioned generation of logic probes with something more capable.  Although I had one thing wrong: it does not replace the logic pulser.

And one better shot of the HP6114A received from Eroshan. He seems to have scrubbed the thing before sending it to me - thanks!

Rubber hoses can be very effective too, especially for electronic locks.

Why all that if you can simply break a window and enter... Path of least resistance... :-//

Less funny and spectacular but nonetheless effective.

or wait for the owner and force him to open the door. There are multiple ways for the criminals especially if they don't have to fear any resistance. Let's face it, the risk for home invaders especially in the UK or Germany is about non existent as home owners cannot or even are not allowed to defend themselves.

Anyway, this is going down the off-topic falls.

We had lock picking in our hacker training class. A normal padlock can be breached in just a few seconds, and it does not even leave any obvious trace.

And so it begins, round three of bidding on a 1A TTi power supply where the seller has placed a reserve on in an auction, first 2 rounds I was the highest bidder but it failed to beat his reserve, so he relisted it for third time.

I guess he has seen newer models sell for more and so thinks his one should sell fo FFS. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VINTAGE-THURLBY-THANDAR-INSTRUMENTS-BENCH-DC-POWER-SUPPLY-PL310-32V-1APSU/293389335429.

Who knows, maybe it'll be third time lucky  >:D

You’re allowed to defend yourself and your property here contrary to popular belief: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-48134851 ... I myself have a nice
And sharp frost knife and a bottle of window cleaner that lives near the front door in my strategically placed “camping bits drawer”. Eyes and spleen it is.

I think this is quite interesting and on topic as lots of us have tasty looking expensive equipment floating around. At worst the average dumbass criminal may see something worth nothing we have as an interesting theft possibility and damage property.  One reason we should strive for anonymity on the internet.

Good luck. We’re entering the “dry spell” from jan-March now on eBay U.K.  very rarely get anything decent in this period. I’m doing three hamfests in Feb so we’ll see what turns up there. I’m actually doing this for buy/sell as my zero interest card is expiring on 9th jan  :-DD

I’m literally 30 min drive away.

Edit: skipping it. Looks like water corrosion.

well, in Germany (Sittensen), a home owner shot one of the home invaders after they held a gun (albeit a replica) to his head. he got convicted of homicide.

@bd139 there are enough examples where a home owner got convicted after defending himself against the intruders, especially in the UK and Germany.

But I generally agree: we have enough of high priced equipment floating around and it is well worth the effort to protect it against unwanted access.

Laws changed to favour home owner in 2013 here.

Toys arrived just in time for Christmas so I can be an unsociable git. Still waiting for P.A. kit. Hopefully that will turn up just after Xmas.

There should always be 2 shots fired to defend one's castle, inhabitants and their possessions.
One MUST be a warning shot but it needn't come first.  ;)
Only proof it was fired like a hole in the ceiling.  ;)  ;)

You’re not here but that doesn’t stop people https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/tony-martin-farmer-shoots-burglar-dead-fred-barras-channel-4-interrogation-drama-a8630306.html

Shot a pikey dead on the fourth burglary. Said he’d do it again. Did three years in prison for it. Nearly the entire country apart from a few pikey bastards supported him.

Nor here.
Emergency self defense under threat of life or limb should qualify as an entirely defensible scenario that few courts would dismiss.

I’m not sure castle doctrine should apply otherwise we end up with shot TV licensing officers and debt collectors. Ok I just changed my mind mid sentence there.  :-DD
