That’s pretty damn good. May be a happy birthday present to myself next year. Takes up a lot less space than a 5334b.

Do you ever (plan to) spend more than 100GBP on TEA stuff? I want to be like you, help me please.
Well you also have to blow up a lot of shit to be like bd139, caps are a speciality   :-DD :-DD :-DD

Well you're on the first steps already what with being freshly married. Now you just wait about 13-15 years until you have teenagers and you'll not have enough cash to buy anything more than £100 because they eat everything you earn like a plague of locusts :-DD
And what they don't eat they destroy.  :palm:

Including Especially your sanity.  :scared:

I know now why some animals eat their young...  :o

In my younger days I could remove most stains using a solution of potassium dichromate in sulfuric acid.
  >:D >:D >:D
You should wear safety gloves and goggles for that though ...

Uhhhh-huh... and for those DIFFICULT STAINS... ditch the potassium dichromate, substitute a little nitric acid & sodium bicarb, then add some cold and a layer of glycerin...

Run, you fools!!!

I think you'll find it's Santa Elves checking in on who's been naughty. It's not good news:

Anybody got a syringe I can use to squeeze the magic smoke back into this?

Some TEA time and I hit the evil bay we are all afraid of.  >:D   :-DD

I've bought a DER EE DE-5000 handheld LCR meter for U$122 + 14U$ shipping:

Some  AD587KN + AD7535JN + 5x OP07CJ

Some USB type A to USB micro type B adapter cable:

Some SMA PCB connectors:

And a RF Demo Kit for the NanoVNA:

I think, most of them will arrive after XMAS. But that's how it is.  :)

FA-2 arrived intact. I let it warm up for an hour and checked it's internal ref. against GPSDO. No adjustments to it yet. Want to connect ext. ref. and do some statistics measuring a couple of OCXOs I have - 10 MHz and 100 MHz. So far so good.  :-+

I told my friends I could teach them to be funny, but they all just laughed at me.

A couple more hours on the 184 and I am back to where I was before applying 130V to the 12V power rail, at least if you don't count all the reworked rework. Tomorrow I start working my way (again) through the countdown board to look for the crosstalk problem.

I guess that's progress, right?   ::)

Always a good thing when you fix a FUBAR....regardless if it was due to prior gorilla activity or self induced.  ;D

Perhaps go back to your 184 repair thread and thank them for their assistance and then ask about the crosstalk issue. Is it really an issue or just part of the original design?

I am definitely going back to that thread... I have to move some photos off my phone before I post. I actually don't know if the crosstalk issue is part of the original design but I am inclined to think so at this point. More on that thread to follow.

That’s my 7 year old’s job. She got hold of three small blue packing peanuts the other day and cut them into a thousand little pieces. They’re stuck to everything now. I am going to have to hoover the bloody ceiling  :palm:

oh my gawd, that's awesome! only a seven year old could do so much damage with just three packing peanuts. i mean, that takes talent!  :-DD

You're all terrible  :-DD

Seriously considering the FA-2 because the 5334B is too damn big. I don't have a lot of space and it eats it:

Time to dust off This old Chestnut...                                         By mnem

Chestnuts roasting on an open Tek scope;

Jacks and plugs aligned in rows...

Yuletide songs played on tube amplifiers,

And folks warming their hands by the triodes' glow.

Every TEA'er knows... a little extra grid bias and a heated cathode,

Help to make their nixies bright.

EEs and HAMs with their benches all aglow,

Will find it hard to flip that breaker tonight.

They know the carrier's on his way;

He's loaded all kinds of scopes and meters and maybe a 2-way.

And every nerdling's child is going to spy,

To see if a therumin can really make you fly.

And so I'll offer to tune the phase;

on antennas from one to ninety-two...

Although it's been tuned, many times, many ways,

There's no such thing as just right, even when it's Christmas, at two...

Merry Christmas all you maniacs, and may your God go with you!
