And I was having such a good night at the bench...
...
Feeling like a total idjit, I unhooked all the test gear, put everything away, and turned off the lights.  :-[   I will figure out what I broke tomorrow.

We've all been there. I've taken out a 7.5 digit DVM by carelessness.

It also happens with software - when you come in the next morning you sometimes wish you had gone home an hour earlier.
There are lies, damned lies, statistics - and ADC/DAC specs.

Can't tell you how many times I've been in idiot mode.  :palm:

Heading out to Denver airport this morning. Snowed here last night but not at DIA. Flight is on time. Weather in NY is OK but tomorrow (Sunday) there is a winter storm warning for up to a foot of snow. But if all goes according to plan I'll be home tonight.

Whoopie....off we go.  :-+

was visiting my mother in delaware.

my brother was complaining that for some reason his phone was killing fm radio reception in his truck.

what?

took his phone and an rf explorer SA out to the truck.  could not find a problem.

then he said "it only does it when the phone is plugged in".   plugged into what?

a fine little do-dad like the one in the attached pic.   the noise floor across the fm broadcast band went up by about 30db inside the cab of the truck when you plugged in the phone.   he seemed proud of the fact that his chineseium adapter had only cost him 2 bucks (with the usb cable included).  told him to go buy a better adapter and a good usb cable with a molded bump on it.

he wanted to know if aluminum foil would work instead.

suggested that he use at least 3 layers and make himself a feckin helmet.

hello nixie,

I found that problem also,

here a P20pro,
I bought a charging adaptor for the car, never any problem.
Then I bought a 1 meter usb cable while the original charging cabe is very short.
When charging the handy with the 1m cable, the radio was worst case ! With the short cable, nothing, all best.
So my tip is to swap the charging cable and test again.

Nothing as remotely remarkable as one of our citizens fighting a terrorist with a 5 foot long Narwhal tusk. Had to read that headline about five times before it began to compute.

I've been busy getting my smart plugs set up to control my test gear in stacks that have their power switches at the back  |O that makes easy access fucking hard. I like to switch on just the gear that I want to use rather than the entire stack. Yeah, I know that I'd get greater accuracy after they have been warmed up but nothing I do is that bothered if it is 4mV out because optimum temp hasn't been reached.

ALERT Is there anybody in Newport, East Yorkshire area looking for on old CRT scope, this one has been picked by my Gumtree alert it's a Tek TAS 250, 50Mhz twin tract in reasonable condition with 2 probes for £25.

Description

In perfect working order. Including different probes.
Crazy price of £25.
At Newport East Yorkshire HU15

According to Twitter and the MSN, the tusk was used as a weapon to beat down the terrorist yesterday on London Bridge by an EU citizen who was far from stealing it. Just how he came to have the tusk is not known, but there has been no mention that I'm aware of until now but seeing as it was a mail story then its going to be biased anyway.

Here is a link showing it be used to beat up the terrorist https://twitter.com/mattuthompson/status/1200703269192028160?s=20

That is correct. I spent some time working it all out. Armed response unit rather graphically blew two holes in the dude about a minute after the above video. Thus we don’t need guns but we do have them if they are needed.

Despite everything that went on the attitude here was mostly “oh great, the trains are going to be fucked now”.  :-DD

Um, have a look at the other stories on that site. :)

For example, currently the masthead is https://newsthump.com/2019/11/30/bbc-planning-to-disguise-andrew-neil-as-andrew-marr-for-boris-johnson-interview/ or perhaps https://newsthump.com/2019/11/27/conservative-campaign-hq-has-pant-fire-extinguishers-installed/

It is, however, an excellent source for prompting me to find out the real news stories that prompted their articles.

In the words of MacArthur....."I have returned"  ;D

This flight had no drama, was on time, and the drive home uneventful. But still I'm exhausted.  :phew:

Starting tomorrow morning and through Monday winter storm here. Upwards of a foot of snow. I got all the provisions I need for the next few days so no need to go out.  :-+
