Question: why use a URL shortener for in-forum links?

ummm, habit? and the url was just so damn long and i haven't figured out is there's a short url for in-forum links

You may use just a little bit of HTML-magic:

Completely non TE related 3d print from today. Print was 0.2mm so it's a bit rough and I didn't have time to smooth it but it was on a "same day turnaround" promise



First time I've touched a paint brush in about 25 years so you're seeing the good side 

Obligatory RPN calculator in background. Also I bought a Corsair K63 keyboard.

Back to TE now the kids have had their fun 

Pretty neat with a paint brush then eh, Good keyboard, I also have its big brother the K70 with red LEDs and the number pad with scroll wheel volume control. Only problem Corsair keyboards is the footprint is so large, hence why I also got myself the little Zero keyboard. I thought you said you wanted the number pad though to make data entry easier and faster?

Yeah they are rather large. I figured after playing with a Romer-G variant from Logitech in PC world the other day that I'd go for something with Cherry MX keys in it as I've used them before a long time ago and this was the most reasonably priced MX fitted keyboard. Now I've been using a laptop for the last decade or so mostly so I figured I'd skip on the size a bit and not bother with the numeric pad after over-analysing it before  . I was going to go for a WASD one but once you've paid for it, paid the import duty and shipping, then it's 4x the cost of the K63.



Only complaint is it's noisy but I bought some Kingkey O-rings from ebay which stops the caps bashing into the frame and now it's no noisier than a spongy horrible membrane keyboard now. Still getting used to the key travel being so small before they keys do stuff- I've had to fix my typing as I tend to rest my hands on the tab key occasionally (stupid laptop habit). It's actually like typing on a BBC micro, which is a good thing!

Do people still use URL shorteners? Being sent to an undisclosed location on the web isn't considered a good thing nowadays. A lot of evil can lurk behind a link and seeing what it is it is your first line of defence. Far from watertight but it helps. There are a few other associated risks too.

Then, just highlight the word you want to link and click the "Insert Hyperlink" icon, below the Italics icon. Then, place your cursor between   url and ], insert an "=" and your link.

Main advantage of URL shorteners here are the bbcode url parser is shit and sometimes it won’t correctly link a URL that you dump in line even if it’s to another forum topic on the same forum. Typical PHP developers

Actually $51 to move to Kentucky via Fedaxe and $30 for the international bit, the front would probably get smashed up by GSP anyway.

First TE related print finally. One of Beanflying's 1740A feet. The scope itself is dug away in the cupboard so it may take a couple of days before it gets to try the new shoes on.

No bacon here because the lady does not eat pork. But no problem, I go with flow at eat the turkey sausage instead. Besides, she makes killer eggs and english muffin to go along with it.
