You just put that up there to support your fellow smurf yoob-toober.  :-DD

Sebastian actually wrote "Nashville Cats" on a dare; nobody ever expected it to hit the charts like it did. I always thought the song was a hoot, m'self. :-//

Enjoy the hernia that comes with it  :-DD. More seriously it’s a proper bit of kit that is.

On the subject of country music, I was distracted the other evening by Unreal Tournament and one of the people was streaming some country music on the server. Well interestingly it turned out to be rather racist country music  :-DD  I left not in disgust but embarrassment.

Anyway let’s clean our ears with an audio enema courtesy of Germany’s finest: https://youtu.be/TKBDk6V8s2A

Touched down in Nashville 2AM local. Pretty much fell into our motel room; killing a couple minutes here while I wait for the bathroom to be free.

@wch - Found me out! McKeesport, W. Mifflin, Dormont, Mt. Lebanon, Squirrel Hill.

“Daddy... what are my juevos connected to...?”

I would like to note the gradual upgrade path implied in that sequence.  :-DD

Safe travels!

It wasn't coincidental, either. We reached our "yuppie tolerance level" in Mt Lebanon; Squirrel Hill was REAL money, old money. The kind that's had it so long they couldn't care less what anybody thinks of how they look, that cheerfully walk around the neighborhood in sweats and diamonds with a 30-year old Bentley or Rolls in the garage they actually use as a daily driver.  :o

Obviously still no connection with the reality of people who don't have oodles, but they were quite decent & did not look down on us just because we bought the cheapest, oldest house on the block.

I have some experience with them,
they are very fine to service.

upstair there are 3 sub chassis, sitting in sockets, plugs. From right to left they are:

PSU,  second IF,  Audio stage with subchassis in the sub chassis what is the BFO,

When they are removed the rest is much more easy to turn and to handle. The idea from Telefunken was, in the service to swap complete sub chassis and repair them in the factory.
The real problem with this radio is the temperatur stabilisator... the old EE made it with (Gussteile), parts from thickness boiled steel, so it is so much heavy. The complete Tuner part have no sheet metal, thats all made in the kitchen with fire + sand  :-DD

Interesting. And not bad. I had expected something completely different!

German music is usually pretty excellent. Most of the good gigs and festivals are over there and Poland. Rummelsnuff is just a notable exception  :-DD

Incoming test gear if I am lucky tomorrow  :scared:

Anyone here have a 2N4240 or NTE175 you'd be willing to sell?

I let the smoke out of one while calibrating the tektronix 106, details of the flaming smokey end of the transistor and a two watt resistor to follow...

I posted a thread on the 106 in the repair section:

http://tinyurl.com/y58kuasw

TL;DR version:  things were going well until I shorted one of the rails through an output transistor in the 150VDC section. I just ordered a replacement transistor and I am digging round to find a 2W 27 Ohm resistor to replace the one that exploded.   :palm:

While I wait, I will put the companion box, the sine wave generator (20mV to 100Vpp, 1Hz to 1MHz), on the bench and see what happens...

Daaaaamn. Bet that smelled good.  :-BROKE

Question: why use a URL shortener for in-forum links?

i haven't let the smoke out of anything in a while, but that smell, i'd recognize it anywhere.  :-DD

ummm, habit? and the url was just so damn long and i haven't figured out is there's a short url for in-forum links

wch,

I have sorted them by the Tek numbers here. Do you have the 151-xx-00 ?

numbering is this:

151 = single transistor
153 is a factory matched pair
