Speaking of gift horses, "upgrade" your hacked DS1000Z with an all-in-one genuine license pack from Tequipment...for $0.01! https://www.eevblog.com/forum/buysellwanted/rigol-bnd-msods1000z-license-clearance-one-penny-at-tequipment-net/

My last one came with all options enabled other than 100Mhz. Standard Rigol policy now.

Yes, it's good for those of us who bought one long ago.

Mmmhmmm... for those of us with 1054Z-cum-1154Zs, I imagine that might be a bit of a downgrade... :o

Nah, just combine the options. Maybe?

Todays' comic - with signals!
https://www.questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=4108

And reading that while the 5-tone selective goes 'Trilobit, trilobit, bilotrit, bilotrit...' for a good minute trying to raise some rural firepersons in the Odenwald region from their nightly stupor made it even better.

Remark: The Odenwald region is one of Europe's leading contenders for the highest qualitative and quantitative inbreeding content. (When they tell their offspring not to come home with a foreigner, they are talking about the inhabitants of the next valley!)

Seeing that waterfall diagram does have a very actual context for me. I was looking through multiple hours of recorded waterfall spectra recently, to make the astonishing discovery of...NOTHING.
The contractor I was using seems to be in dire need of 'what to do with a spectrum analyzer' lessons.

IIRC, the code combined with the unit ser # generates a key that you enter into your Service Menu and it is specific to the bundle you buy... so it only authorizes specific features. If you had bought a different bundle, the key generated would be different.

So if I entered a new key, pretty sure it would go back to being a 1054Z.

But I bought one anyways, just on the principle of the thing.  ;)

The interwebs has some pretty dusty corners. Tonight, while searching for a service manual, I came across the schematics and user manual for the Perq T2; I designed the memory board and parts of the processor for it in 1983. It was quite a shock to see my name and initials in the signature block of the schematics.  Man, that was a really long time ago.

Hey Bean, did you leave the Dunny door open again???

The current BBS (Big Black Spider) on the shack is a bit smaller and is working well at pest control. So long as it stays on the other side of the window welcome to stay ;) A bit over 30mm long I guess.

I'll bet Fenland and the Forest of Dean are in contention for that title.

Famously doctors in Norfolk used to annotate stupid patients' notes "NFN" - normal for Norfolk.
There are lies, damned lies, statistics - and ADC/DAC specs.

Yeah, but it’s still one of the cheapest available with a 300mm print area on any axis. I know THAT would appeal to YOU, even if it is a PITA from hell on crack to get printing right.  :-DD

mnem
[EDIT] That fact also makes the idea of gifting it to you very appealing to me.  >:D
Did you just call me a cheap skate?  :o :-DD

What you SHOULD be asking is WHICH of the above facts "also makes the idea of gifting it to you very appealing to me"... >:D

Disclaimer: I don't have any connection to the seller.

If I lived in the vicinity I'd more than likely go for it. Even the $600 look reasonable.
Of course, I'd also have a huge house and a pickup (and, living in the U.S. of A., I'd have a driver's license, too.)  ;)

You won't see such offers here in Germany.  :(

If it were closer to me they would already be in the back of my CR-V.  ;D But Indiana is just a little too far...I figure perhaps 18 - 24 hours continuous driving one way.  :o

Edit, and I have done 21 hours driving in one shot as well as gone cross country from Colorado to New York and it's not something I ever want to do again.  :--
