I ended up finding a way better deal with a HP 974a.
Oh dear, is it RPN?
Nope. You choose the function, first.
I picked up a super clean Heathkit SG-8 in original condition. I just need to re-cap it, check the resistors, and align it and it should be like new!
There isn't any rust or even much dust on the inside. It's like it's been stored in a sealed time machine.
Nice! FWIW, I believe the connector that mates to those old-school screw-on mic jacks is a Switchcraft 2501F. Mouser has them in stock; they're about $7 a pop.
And in a slightly related note, the baby version of that mic connector, which is used on things like the Simpson 303 VTVM, is a Switchcraft 5501FX, also available from Mouser for about the same price.

You're right. Their actual intended purpose was a microphone connector, not an RF connector. A lot of TE in the 1950's used them anyway because they were cheap and readily available.
Time to stop using my clunky very repeatable but fairly inaccurate old USB Victor 86B's. Not sure what to do with them after 7-8 years + of reliable use.
Playing with the heavy metal in my larger Coffee Roaster, 12V supply fitted for some additional stepper and servo automation and powering a micro to make it all work. Also fitted is a heatsink so the SSR won't overheat and go to sleep which brought forward the current upgrade from later in the year.
Most of this wiring is ex factory Chinese proving not all of it is junk. Even reasonable sleevening
For those that didn't learn a little German at school, in German the verb is at the end of the sentence, not between the subject and object. Yes, German is RPN
Eh, no. The verb is between the subject and object unless there is a tense or additional verb in the same sentence.
McBryce.
Jepp. Example: "bd139 verlötet Molexstecker."
bd139 <-- subject
verlötet <-- verb
Molexstecker <-- object.
Another example: "med6753 benutzt UPN."
Same pattern as above.
Hope, this was helpful.
Afaik German is classified as a 2V word order language, i.e., the finite verb comes in second place in main clauses. The infinite verb is placed at the end. In subordinate clauses the finite verb is placed after the infinite verb.
Z. B.: Ich
habe Deutsch
gelernt, weil ich mit BU508A
reden will.
Translation word for word: I have German learned, because I with BU508A to talk want.
In red are the finite verbs. In black, the infinite ones.
In main clauses where you only have a finite
untrennbares verb, however, it sounds like a typical SVO (Subject-Verb-Object) language like English, French, etc., as you showed.
By the way, I don't speak German. So don't quote me on that.
P.S: BD139 solders the Molex connector.
Yes, as stated. With just one verb in the sentence the verb is between subject and object:
"bd139 verlötet Molexstecker" = bd139 miss-solders Molex connectors
With supporting verbs in the sentence or fragmented sentences, the verb(s) move to the end:
"bd139 hat den Molexstecker verlötet" = bd139 miss-soldered the Molex stecker (Past tense, verb at the end)
"bd139 merkte nicht, daß er den Molexstecker verlötet hat" = bd139 didn't notice that he miss-soldered the Molex Stecker (Fragmented past tense sentence, two verbs at the end)
"Hätte bd139 es richtig gelötet, wäre weniger Rauch im Zimmer" = If bd139 had soldered it correctly, there'd be less smoke in the room (just added to complete the story
)

Some might say he's not equal to the task !
bd139 gefickt Molexstecker! Scheisse!

See! You're already getting the hang of it

Just as long as my name doesn't get dragged into this again.
Got new laptop. Phew. Damn thing is immaculate. No sign of use. Also 372 days of Lenovo warranty left, decent Samsung SSD, perfect full HD screen, new genuine USB-C charger. Winner

Well USB-C at least stops us from making jokes about you putting connectors in the wrong way
McBryce.
Hahaha it's got plenty of those USBs and I've done it several times already today
I hate the USB connector design. Why didn't they make the top or bottom easier to see?
How the Fecking hell do you manage to do that, they are designed to fit together easily one way only, if you have to exert force then you clearly have them round the wrong way
My neighbors who I help with their PC problems did a job on one of the USB connectors on their laptop. It's in the right way but will not come out. I told them I'd have to take it apart to get it out for fear of damaging the internal parts and mucking the computer up.
Also another problem with USB is that USB plugs neatly fit into the ethernet hole too.
Edit: something I hate about new PCs these days. Some Dolby shit gets turned on and makes everything sound like farts in a coffee can until I've found it and neutralised it.

They may be designed to fit easily one way but they sure as hell don't in reality.
