Speaking of such ... yesterday I was looking for a case for a little project (adapt a C245/T245 to a JBC HD-2B)
and in the box where my Fischer aluminium cases are stored, I've found some long-missing parts  :palm:

Now I can hopefully attack this other project on my list (precision constant current source from 1µA to 100mA)

They're out, finally. And with only one fubar'ed land pattern which has been repaired.

When that has happened to me I've duplicated any "hidden under the capacitor" tracks with wires on the other accessible side.

Saves me wondering whether the solder has wicked through properly.

1740A has been on for 5 hours now and hasn't blown up again and the connector and rectifiers aren't melting any more :-+

Not only that I checked cal against my AWG and the damn thing is bang on the mark. I was rather surprised.

That's very normal for a PSU repair. Get the rails right and everything falls back into place.

Those would be some mighty special termites, with terrifying appetites... my floors are ceramic tile over the floating concrete slab the entire house is built on. I can't rule that out tho… they've been here a lot longer than we mere humans have; pretty sure they got a seat or two on the City Council.  :-DD

Got the $125 Data Precision 2045 today...appears to be in fantastic shape. After some confusion thinking there was no output, I realized that channel 1 of the 7A26 amplifier was set to ground...  |O  :-DD

On the bright side, the 8484A sensor I got a few months ago seems to work extremely well with the auction special 436A meter I got recently (same auction as the 7104). I need to break down and get the special calibrated attenuator that it would have come with new.

It's pretty awesome, had a chance to play with the polynomial waveform features tonight. The ability to enter mathematical expressions directly is definitely neat.

This looks rather interesting:

Based on https://github.com/ttrftech/NanoVNA

After doing a bit of research, I decided to buy one of these (the original developed by Hugen) and compare it against the DG8SAQ VNWA.  Even if it is only good to 50MHz it will be a useful piece of gear to have in the field. Plus it reminds me of all the small, interesting Autek kit from long, long ago.

There's a guy at hamfests here that has a bag of GR-874 connectors and attenuators regularly for £5. I might grab that for the sake of distribution if it turns up again and anyone wants any of the bits.

BD, put me down for some, though I wonder if the shipping will be a killer. I have a 191, 106 and other gear that uses them...

GR-874 to BNC adaptors https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BNC-to-GR874-adapters/153637471474

I've found that vendor trustworthy; as you can see he points out "suboptimalities".

Just got D75. 100% write off. Caps have destroyed the board. The guy did a fairly good repair attempt on it with some decent Kemet caps but didn't clean up the mess. It has wicked up the transformer wires and they are all crumbling  :--. Absolutely no way of saving this one.

I know people who need parts for these so I'm stripping them down and doing that instead.
