Nice pictures  :-+

Apparently the power supply is a dick on them so good luck.

In the meantime....how about some Tek 485 porn?

Is that the delay line rolled around the CRT?

That's the turbo encabulator that gets it up to 350 megs ;)

... says the man that has never owned a 485 :)

The Fluke 1912A that I bought Tuesday afternoon was in Reno, Nevada. Last night it arrived at Newark Airport and it's already at local USPS Distribution Center. I just might get it today or definitely tomorrow. The scheduled delivery date wasn't until this coming Wednesday.  :scared:
I'm liking this!  :-+

Thanks. Yes, the 7261A looks almost identical to the 7260A. I downloaded the manual. And it gives disassembly instructions.  :-+

Fedex has the package with the HP 1660A that I ordered listed as "Out for Delivery", so definitely getting it today! Yay! Well, except for the fact that I'll be at work when it comes, and it was probably sent "signature required" which means it will probably wind up in the rental office at my apartment complex.  I may not get my hands on it until tomorrow morning... Boo.   :( :-\ ::)

Well some times its better that way. Canada post has the tendency of leaving everything on my porch. Even a 60Lbs signal generator in the middle of winter.

Yeah, I mean, on one hand I appreciate it, since I wouldn't want this thing to "walk off". But on the flip side, I live in a low crime area, and I've never (to the best of my knowledge) had a package disappear from in front of my door.  The frustrating part is that I never get home from work before the rental office closes, so anything that gets left there is out of reach until the next day.  It's very annoying to have something sitting 500 feet away and not be able to touch it!   ;D

I'm so glad I have here an enclosed front porch. Packages are left out of the weather and most of all, out of sight. Although low crime area here too and I've never heard of a package being stolen. House across the street does not have an enclosed porch and packages left out in the open often.

More porn. Finally got the Fluke 7260A apart. I was on the right track before. I just needed to pry harder.  ;D

And an interesting discovery. On the underside of the top cover is the Inverter board for the battery. It has been disconnected from the main board and in fact there are cut wires. I don't care because I have no intention of using on battery anyway. But obviously someone has been in here. And just to make sure there are no issues I checked the counter with the top cover off and it works fine.

Looked it over pretty good....especially the power supply caps. No bulging or leaking. For now going to leave them alone.

More.  :-DD The Type 191 is all cleaned up and spray painted the cabinet. This project is done. The calibration is reasonably close so I'm going to leave it alone. Going to let it cook for a few hours to make sure all is OK.  :-+

The Fluke 1912A has arrived. It works but there is an issue. The case was broken in shipment. Which is very surprising because IMHO it was packed extremely well. The monkeys at USPS must have dropped kicked the box to do that kind of damage.  Luckily I have all the pieces so it can be either super glued or epoxied back together. And like I said the counter does seem to operate fine which is goodness.

So I'm posting these pictures then I'm done for today. I'll do a porn tear down tomorrow. Gonna go turn on the boob tube and chill for the rest of today.  :-+

Agreed. Not sure why, but it definitely looks better on this unit than that HeathKit. No, seriously. Maybe it's just the idea of a HeathKit being shiny...? that strikes me wrong...  :o

That shade of blue is almost a dead ringer for the newer Tek blue and I've demonstrated that in the past with a side by side comparison. But I'm convinced that the older Tek blue was somewhat darker. But that may be just due to dirt and age.

Yes, older Heathkits for the most part were dull gray. But starting in the 1960's newer equipment was bright blue almost the same color as Tek. So while it may not be historically correct I think it looks better than the gray.

What is that Fluke in the middle of this mess, err, genius arrangement?

It's a Fluke 760A Meter Calibrator.  AC (at 60 and 400Hz) and DC, voltage and current, and resistance.  It's a device to indicate how far out of whack a meter is.  (And test the compressive strength of bench legs; it weighs about 75 lbs IIRC.)

If it jams, force it.  If it breaks, you needed a new one anyway...

If that is the same material used on Tek 1502s, then methylene chloride would help. It has exceptional creep into cracks, and melts the plastic.

It is also carcinogenic, so perhaps "plastic weld" products would be appropriate. I'd try those before cyanoacrylate or epoxy.

Yep, gonna take the risk for now.

Here's the 1912A porn. Not really a hell of a lot to see. Big shield over the good stuff and I'm not pulling it off.

Ha!  I went on a bit of a Wiha kick, too, but for the most part restrained myself.  Everything has arrived already.  Not too painful for the CC.   :-+

I see you got two of the three I linked to.  :-+ Good; glad somebody was able to take advantage. I vacillated over the Torx set for a while... but I literally have a dozen sets, plus tamper-resistant from Cornwell.  :palm:

Love me some EB Super Slinkys... the harmonics are like nothing else in this world. My wife hates 'em; sez they're too rough on her hands.  :P

Found some goodies on my doorstep when I got home from work... I even left work early in case that one package was at the rental office...

Aaaaaawwwwww yeeeaaaahhh... I think I know what's in that bigger box!

This, my friends, is a thing of beauty!  Say hello to my "new" HP 1660A 136 channel Logic Analyzer!

I actually thought I goofed up on this order, because I forgot to ask if it came with cables or not. Since the listing didn't say, I later came to fear that it probably did not include cables. As it turns out...

The rear panel looks good:

It's got the ubiquitous HP-IB port:

and RS-232:

External trigger connectors:

Now, the eternal question... "turn it on, or take it apart?"  I couldn't resist the temptation to power it up and see if I got a dud or not:

The seller put some effort into packing this thing well:

Now, time to break out the manual and learn how to, actually, uh, you know, use the blinkin' thing.
