I got another calculator on the way, just for @nixiefreqq.  >:D Another HP16C, but this one comes with the spiral bound manual. Now I'll have the manual AND another 16C that I can take to work.  :-+

Well, I got the new KSGER soldering station today but already have a problem with it. When going to boost it seems to reboot and end up in standby mode.  :--

This shit is really getting old.  >:(

Should have gotten a Quicko T12-952 from Aliexpress, I've heard a lot of mixed results with Ksger  :palm:

Backyard?  That's double the distance the last "find" took me - but it isn't out of the question for something I'd really go for.  Unfortunately, I'm not in the market for that sort of gear - especially high voltage supplies.

Besides, Bean, you've led me down the HP path.

Just a heads up for everyone. NEW old stock ex MoD HP 435B power meters with sensor cable here for £65: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/333263758496

I'm tempted to grab one in case I come across a good sensor head.

They're usually blown up. Working ones are £100-300 usually. You can occaasionally grab an untested one for a tenner though and get some luck. I know someone who has collected a few and found problems in the actual sensor body not the head and got 6 working ones for about 200 quid investment.

I found a solution to the KSGER Boost bug. If you disable the "Buzzer" (which makes a sound when the tip get to the set temp. or it goes to standby), the Boost works!

Somebody want to try to explain how those two functions are intertwined?  :-DD

Anyway, I messaged the seller and we'll see what they propose. The internet source said they needed a new control board to fix that, since you cannot download any new firmware (if it's a software issue). Might be hardware though.

Anyway for now it's working fine other than that.
I told my friends I could teach them to be funny, but they all just laughed at me.

Glad to hear that it is working OK in that configuration. Cannot think of why you would want a buzzer for anyway, that is not an option on the Quicko controller but the boost and all other functions work perfectly on them. The only Ksger controller I did have from Banggood allowed the tip to glow cherry bleeding red and needless to say that I turfed that straight into the bin and ordered a Quicko one from Aliexpress, and that's still working perfectly a year later.

Have you ever waited in waiting for a parcel to be delivered and it doesn't arrive, instead you find a card or a email /SMS message claiming that they attempted delivery but found nobody in and that you can collect it their dept? Well wonder no more this is apparently a scam and this video explains it all and how this person overcomes that problem.

I didn't watch it all - but enough to get the basics.

He had a UPS driver pull up near his home, wait a few seconds (enough to get GPS tagging data) and then drive off.  Very shortly after he gets a notification of "attempted delivery".  He was home, has one of those doorbells that rings several annunciators around his house (as well as his phone and watch) plus security cameras (which captured proof).

He calls it a scam because he paid for a service he did not receive and someone else (the lazy driver) benefitted.
