Each area in Ham radio has its problems, I found with ft8 - you can just get the 'entity' / stamp collectors. After 30 contacts - not much 'connection' - psk was better - but also can be a bit 'canned'.

In all of the areas of ham radio, they are interesting for a while - then the interest wains. The real benefit of the 'rag-chewers' - they can be quite good beacons - telling you what bands are open.

I have found the most interesting area of Ham are some of the good speakers at club meetings - they can spark an interest into a new topic and the S/N ratio is good.
Whoah! Watch where that landed we might need it later.

So I enjoy building electronics kits...sometimes it's relaxing and fun to just do some mindless soldering. Anyway, I built a neat superhet AM/FM radio kit a while back that's actually quite usable. It stopped working, just faint fuzz coming out of the speakers and the LM386 that acts as the audio amp was blazing hot in seconds of applying power. Spent the afternoon troubleshooting it. I figured I'd either managed to kill the cheap speaker somehow or the LM386. Turns out it was far simpler. The headphone jack had somehow developed a short to ground.  :palm: Removing it from the circuit and wiring the speaker directly fixed it.

Found this on Ebay. Never heard of the brand. Lots of shiny aluminum. Didn't know if anyone would be interested.

LOL. It's a lot of overkill for what would otherwise be a basic handheld DMM.

But, I just report things I find, who knows who's waiting for some enabling.  :-DD
I told my friends I could teach them to be funny, but they all just laughed at me.

Just a few more SVG's in the Zip file to add to your collections but who wants any of the Keysight and Agilent Rubbish  ;)

Sorted the Tek engrave with bumping the power a touch too.  :)

That Tek logo looks right and proper now.  :-+

Hmm, if you get a bunch of vintage logos together, maybe you could do a TEA version with "TEA" or something in the center and the vintage logos all around it, in a circle or just floating all around. Maybe someone has a good idea for a design.

Speaking of which, such a design could be put onto T-shirts, too. ;)

My problem with Radio, HAM or CB is, I enjoy how it works more than talking to the people you often find there.  Been licensed as an Extra since I was 13, 30 years ago now, but not been very active for the last 10.  I miss the technical discussion and could not care less for the arguing and mindless banter.

I am with you on this. I am involved with a couple of traffic nets but I don't have much interest in the random encounter conversations, contesting and such. I've focused mostly on the technology and science. One of things that surprised and disappointed me when I got licensed was how few hams were builders, even of kits, or experimenters of any sort.

Interesting.....never heard of them either.

Nice case design  :-+
Ruby Red LED's  :-+
Separate input and ranging for current  :-+
Circuit breakers for current  :-+
Google never heard of them  :--
Only 3.5 digits  :--
Unknown accuracy  :--
Manuals/schematic probably unobtanium  :--

Meh  :--
They often focused on the educational/training markets. Generally basic, but simple, and rugged.

The meters are awesome but the puppy is way  better.  She is sooo darn cute!

Right?

Has her own place in the lab already;

I was going to seek out a photo of my Old Whippet for this task but the Puppy cuteness won and had reasonable contrast to work with. Lots more experimentation for me to do on Dithering of photos, tweaking of contrast and engraving at some stage there is a bunch of variables to sort out and several of them will be photo specific.  :palm:

What would it look like if you did it as a negative of that?

And that sort of answers that question ;) Brown Fur, Brown features and shadows = Lack of definition. With a lot of playing with filters and contrasts I suspect it could be made work a lot better. Initially I tweaked the contrast of the original and ran it past an oil painting filter which tends to bring out the edges a little without going full edge detect. If anyone wants a photo render done and engraved then allow for several boxes of Beer in the price ;)

Don't you just love fleabay condition statements, e.g. "Acquired from a reliable source" in auction
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SS-TEKTRONIX-1502-METALLIC-TDR-CABLE-TESTER-HB2/192902737588
There are lies, damned lies, statistics - and ADC/DAC specs.
Glider pilot's aphorism: "there is no substitute for span". Retort: "There is a substitute: skill+imagination. But you can buy span".

Of what ... e-Waste?  Road kill?

That is painful to look at.
