And off to bed I think!

Well that lasted about 5 minutes. Just drifted off to sleep and BANG!

Some utter smack headed dickhead cunt just lost control of his hilux and drove it into my fence and disappeared off. Didn't get registration however the fuzz came out and put a PNC out for the dickhead.

 :palm: :palm: :palm:

Sooner I get that fucking moat the better.

Edit: incidentally there goes my Kempton TEA budget

Damn sorry to hear that mate. Here's what I look at out my back. It's not my fence legally but they just let it fall to the ground. Only a few panels left standing now. They just mow right over the old panels on the ground. I guess it's not a bad view otherwise - looks like a bigger lot now.  :-DD

It could be worse. I had grandparents that, when they were still alive, lived next door to living and breathing personifications of Jeff Foxworthy's redneck jokes.   :palm:

For years my wife and I have been thinking of a business we would like to call "Moats R'us" - bah humbug!
Gee he hit the fence pretty hard - broke a concrete post - hopefully not too little damage to his car.
Whoah! Watch where that landed we might need it later.

Toyota Hiluxes are tough SOBs...they are a leading choice of platform for building technicals in some of the more lawless areas of the globe for that reason, at least in areas where the local warlord is unopposed and doesn't have to worry about shaped charges.  :-DD

I am weak. I bought it. If it doesn't work it's a parts mule. If it DOES work....well....guess I'll have another 465B.  :palm:

This is the same seller that I got the 2430 "parts unit" a few weeks ago that turned out to be in better shape than my 2430.  :-+

Yep they tough for NZ conditions:

There a whole heap of NZ Hilux videos featuring these 2 monkeys, the infamous (in NZ) Barry Crump and Scotty.

You're not kidding either, look at just how tough they are and what Top Gear did to one to try and kill it.

Toyota way back called it's small truck the "Hilux" here but later on the name was dropped and it was simply a "pickup".

I reckon it might be Clarkson driving that then.  :-DD

Well that's a bummer, have a look for any paint flakes/smears left behind and then ask around the local bodyshops if anyone has had a quote done for some body repairs on a hilux of that colour, you might get lucky.

Re Hilux. They also are known as a Toyota "Roll-over".
100km/hr, on a dirt road, high centre of gravity, narrow track, gets into a good 'tank slapper' pretty easily. Roll cage structure on the early models was pretty poor.

I am so f*****. And I'm really short of packing anything HPAK together and put it into a crusher.

It is about my HP5334A.
After obtaining a working 10811-60111 (and the necessary screws - thanks, Oculus) I put the thing on my desk and wanted to fit that oscillator into it. Except, there is no connector J204 on the left side of the main board (when viewed from the rear). There is a outline labeled with OCXO at the RIGHT of the mainboard (viewed from the rear). And it is a totally different connector.

So I found out that I had been working from a mis-labeled service manual for a HP5334B (which came on a CD with the counter). And that a service manual for the 5334A is NOWHERE TO BE FOUND. I can't even say which OCXO would fit into it. I found an old discussion where someone tries to work around that.
I was already sending a PM to DC1MC in my mind, to tell him that we can finally calibrate that thing.
As it stands now, it is a useless piece of crap. Who needs a reciprocal universal counter with a totally crappy timebase? I don't. I do not have the space to collect useless stuff - I can and must have ONE fully capable counter that can do what my DC503s can't.
HPAK sucks. Severely. Someone wants to come by now and pick it up? Bring something that is guaranteed to make me forget this episode and be gone with it. |O

I found this one:

http://www.ko4bb.com/getsimple/index.php?id=manuals&dir=HP_Agilent/HP_5334_Universal_Counter
Yep. Found that too, of course. It is exactly the same one than the mislabeled one from which I worked.

While I was poking around in something, measuring voltages and stuff using one of my VEPOTEs (Very Expensive Piece of Test Equipment), I realized that my probes are utter crap. If test equipment can be embarrassed, mine is. I could build some new ones from scratch but I figure that's not the best use of my time, right? Or is it? Which brings me to today's poll question:

What manufactured banana jack-ended test lead sets do you have that you couldn't live without?

And the bonus question:

What brand of un-shrouded banana jack-ended test lead set do you recommend (because my old gear won't accommodate shrouds)?

Please stop me before I decide that the only option is custom building my own!.  :-DD
Answer 1: ALL OF THEM. (Big Pomona set, Mueller, SKS, MC/Staeubli and Fluke&GMC proprietary) 2mm too.
Answer 2: I hold the non-shrouded gold-plated stackable ones from Stäubli (MC) in highest esteem.
They also offer them with really good cables, so you don't have to make them yourself. You can't probably come up with a comparable connection, which is spot-weld or very durable crimp.
Also Buela300K from SKS. And their sliding shroud types.

Not here in NZ, always been and still is a Hilux.

Same here in Oz.

In fact, there seems to be several similarities in the vehicles one finds on the roads of our two countries...  Years ago, my parents went to NZ to visit some extended family.  I put their luggage in the boot of my Datsun 180B and drove them to the airport.  When they got to NZ, they were greeted by family and the driver didn't think their luggage would fit in their boot.  My parents said, with confidence, yes, it will fit - and showed them how.  It was another Datsun 180B.  (Great little car, BTW.)

Correct you NEED all of them and you still won't have the correct one in all cases.  ;) I use a mix of cheap stackable Chinese ones (Good to around 10A) and then mix in some custom ones with gold flashed jacks and various tip options clips, DC jacks, BNC plus some R/C charge adapters to 4mm. I need to make another couple of sets of the heavy ones (10AWG back left) mainly for R/C and or load use. For really accurate nuttery type measurements I am sitting on a stash of Pamona fancy ones I just need to source some Teflon shielded cable to go with. There is some more in a drawer too!

Mixed colour sets of Cheap and Cheerful Chinese ones here eBay auction: #401732827336 but plenty of other options too.

Ha ha.  I'm slowly getting closer to getting mine set up (have only had it since about October  :o ). Have been doing some network reconfiguration since it wants to be plugged in and I never wired any drops, because I'm lazy.

I hope soon to be dipping my toes oh who am I kidding - jumping headfirst into the world of FDM printing...
