Totally agree, critical circuits / functions should never to trusted to wifi for very obvious reasons.

I am using a couple of Sonoffs in the shed I really need to reflash and get off the Chinese based Server/mobile App not for security as much as the app sucks my phones battery and the server is not always responsive. Two are monitoring fridges and the other is on my coffee machine so I can turn it on from Bed in the mornings. **The Coffee machine is considered a critical circuit but running wires for 30m underground was to hard.  :phew:

Same server issues with the WiFi camera I have in the shed but it is only used for keeping an eye on my 3D printers and the actual security cameras/system is wired and recorded not to mention the rather loud siren  >:D
Coffee, Food, R/C and electronics nerd in no particular order. Also CNC wannabe, 3D printer and Laser Cutter Junkie and just don't mention my TEA addiction....

A thought for the evening on that.

I don’t mind being tracked. Its easy to manipulate to give you a good alibi :)
That only works when you have access to the information. In most cases you don't.

While the tracking via mobile could be manipulated by giving your mobile to someone and telling them where to go with it, the video part is not so easy to overcome so an albi may be a bit more difficult to concoct  :-DD
Nooo, but you WERE at home, because you issued commands to Alexa/whatever, weren't you?

Exactly. Chuck your android handset in a colleagues bag and go hit the tourist sites during the day with a burner Nokia in your bag on PAYG.

Was cruising You Tube last night and ran across videos of Sarah Millican. I found her quite funny and I like her dead pan delivery. However, some of her material you have to be British to "get" and she has one hell of a strong accent and is sometimes hard to understand. What do you Brits think of her?

She annoys me. That's all I'm saying. Look up Frankie Boyle. That's some dark shit :)

She can be funny, but she doesn't have an accent and I'm not aware of her having any interest in TEA :)

Frankie Boyle does have an accent.

Well, if she DOESN'T have an accent as you claim then hows come I have no trouble understanding Techmoan, Scullcom Hobby, Gerry Sweeney, Radiocruncher, etc??  :-//

Of course you'd say Boyle has an accent. He's a Scott.  :-DD

Anyway, some TEA stuff for a change. Had a TDS224 on the watch list (100MHz 4 channel Tek). 100% dead does not power up. Knackered.

Skipped it as it went for £170.

If it was any of you, good luck! I stopped at £80!

Isn't that one of the early Tek DSO's that has the at least 100 suspect SMD tants in it? If it is even for free I'd pass.

There are no tants in it at all actually! Not one!

Power supply has electrolytic caps only in it. Main board has ceramic MLCCs and that's it.

Edit: board out of mine (TDS210):

There is a TDS220 on there for £199, no good for me though.

I'd probably buy that if it was £40 cheaper as someone would buy the TDS210 and a couple of crap probes for £180 :D

Exactly, thats what I thought, the TDS210 would cover the cost, but I have a very low power cycle figure on mine, the TDS220 might have a high one and the display looked a bit dim.

Thought about and then decided that I CBA as it only a 40Mhz increase in bandwidth and if I needed more of that, I have it in the combiscope...now if it had been 4 channels  :-+

I'm not trying to copy bd but I wasn't writing here
1. because of touring parents/parents in law over X-Mas
2. had a few days marriage-on-hold after a hefty marital argument that kept me away from TEA and anything other too.   :(
3. have to catch up all the postings   :scared:

Fixed that second issue now I hope. A marriage seems to be real work sometimes.

To regain zest of life (and because having X-Mas money to be spent) I bought a HP 53132A universal counter today.   :)
Checked, fully working and last cal'd 2014 to 2016.    :-+
Overall in good shape but without bumper and handle.
Obviously coming from a rack mount.
The display seems to be a little bit dim. I'll check that when it's on my bench. But nothing that couldn't be fixed with extra money..
I've already checked the possibilities to pimp it with OXCO and 3rd GHz-input..    :palm:   :-DD

Clearly a TEA-related purchase because I don't need it as I bought my last counter (Fluke PM6881-same performance class) six weeks ago.
A life without TEA is possible but pointless.

See beanflying, you're supposed to be off to be after midnight on new year's eve.

Happy new year all, lads. If I don't turn up in a week or so please check the lost and found, will you?

Got some Christmas TEA delivered last week  :)

With everybody talking about universal counter, I realized my 5350b was lacking a bit of precision in the lower freq bands.

So I got myself a nice HP 5335a (with high stability opt). Was sold as "For parts or not working" but it's fully functional. Actually, it's only 0.2Hz off my local 10Mhz std.

Nice counter. But don't you mean 200Hz off? You have 200MHz.  :-DD

200Hz is terrible compared to 200mHz.

No I mean milliHertz (mHz). So it's only about 0.2 Hz off.

My local std was calibrated last spring with my GPSDO.
