But what DOES impress the ladies is when you use our equipment and fix something for them.  :-/O
My sister-in-law's car once went completely dead in the drive, despite having moved a couple of minutes earlier.

I reached in my toolbox, got out a big hammer, put on a slightly manic smile, and asked her to open the bonnet.

After savouring the worried look and somewhat tense questions, I peered around for 60 seconds, and then delivered a single blow[1] with the hammer. Instant success, followed by my savouring the expressions indicating I am a wizard.

A classic example of "£100: £1 for the hammer blow plus £99 for knowing where to hit it" :)

Yep, the BFH (Big Fucking Hammer) is a fix all and must have in the toolbox.
Even the PTB (German equivalent of NPL or NIST) had one on their stand at the recent Hannover Maker Faire:

First Fluke vs Keysight review.

To note you can turn auto hold on but you need the manual and the setup menu. This is a poke at the useless defaults.

Edit: to note when you do turn it on it doesn’t bloody work properly either.

LMAO!  :-DD :-DD I didn't view that video until just now.

Its all part of the function of TEA members to assist each other in the acquisition of new test gear, its the unwritten rule of membership so you see I was just carrying out my sworn commitment to the group by assisting you both in getting that extra digit resolution in the low ohms range so you can get it out of your system now. :-DD

I think you've outdone yourself in that department, given that I already have four 6.5-digit DMMs. But, as was stated earlier, it would've been rude not to buy this poor, unloved 5.5-digit meter with no feet. I believe I even have a set of feet to bestow upon it.

Judging by what you paid for yours and I doubt bitseeker was far that either than very soon one or both of you can have the honour of wearing this badge as it certainly trumps my steal on the 3478A  :-DD

LOL! I missed this video earlier. Yeah, I don't know why Trigger Hold is the default, instead of Auto Hold. Even worse, in the U1282A manual it's almost impossible to understand how to turn on Auto Hold. Bits of it are explained in two different locations, neither of which will result in enabling the feature. I don't know if the U1242B manual is better.

For example, the default setting for AHoLd is 50.d, which doesn't mean 50 digits. That cryptic value actually contains two settings: "50 counts" variation and Auto Hold is "disabled." :palm: Change it to 50.E by altering the right-most character from d to E. Then, Auto Hold is enabled with 50 digits of variation as the threshold.

Once you figure out how to turn it on, though, it does hold consecutive values as expected.

A fair bit I'd imagine. Have you seen the price of a crate big enough and strong enough to ship a dragon in?

Guards! Bring Cerebus two of the ground to air catapults and some flaming custard pies.

No, don't waste the brandy on them! Use lamp oil or some grease from the kitchen drains.

Tough audience. What can Cerebus say? You get worse any evening in the Lower East Side comedy clubs.

Manual is quite good but the feature doesn’t work very well on the U1241C unfortunately. I will play with the threshold some more and see if I can get it to behave.

Main point is Fluke does something sensible out of the box without grabbing to delve into the menus. Thought I’d do the video from the perspective of the “average user” :)

Custard pies? Surely Sir Cerebus needs swords that have recently been on the sharpening stone in order to slay the Dwagon or is the flaming custard pies the latest technology? [emoji41]

BTW....forgot to mention. The latest feature update of Windows 10 fucks with your settings. Why does Microsoft do this shit? What I found so far.....

It deleted "homegroup" which means my WIN7 machines could no longer communicate with it. Fixed.

It completely deleted "Sleep" mode out of the power profiles. Only option now is "Hibernate". No fix yet.

That's it so far. I'm sure there's more. Beware.  :wtf:

Fixed the Sleep issue. The WIN10 1809 Feature release didn't like current Intel UHD Graphics 620 driver so it disabled it. Manually updated the graphics driver and fixed.

I haven't found any other issues. Overall I'm OK with WIN10 but geez....stop with the bullshit.  |O

My start menu breaks at least once a day.

The hibernate vs sleep issue is well known in win 10. It is tuned for laptop use by default where the lid closing triggers the PM event. Desktops don’t have lids.

Solution:

Windows key + X, shutdown submenu, sleep.
