Question as to the lamination bit: does paper exist which adheres to the lamination sheets? In order to avoid lifting edges, I must always ensure some excess lamination of around 1 mm so that the lamination sheets can meet and stick together. Any ideas?

My approach would be slightly different.  I would print on a decent quality paper and then spray it with a clear, non-yellowing lacquer which I have.  That will make it waterproof.  It might still be more exposed to physical damage than I might like - but it's not something I'm going to be too concerned about for a sub AUD$10 DMM.

Your intent is a little unclear. Do you mean "Does paper exist which does not adhere to the lamination sheets?", i.e. you want to effectively laminate one side only and leave a margin of laminating film that can be subsequently stuck down? When I want to do that I cut a piece of baking parchment a little larger than the piece of paper that I'm laminating.

When I want to do that I cut a piece of baking parchment a little larger than the piece of paper that I'm laminating.

To be more precise: I put the printed piece of paper between two lamination sheets
whereby the printed piece of paper is a bit smaller - about 1 mm all round - than the two sheets.
Then upon lamination, the 1 mm area sticks together. If the lamination sheets and printed
paper were cut to the same size, then the laminated sheets and the paper will eventually
detach usually beginning at the corners. Therefore I will have to live with a 1 mm all round border.
I laminate using two sheets because the glue of the double sided tape tends to discolour paper
when in direct contact.

I got a Tek 115, which looks similar, for about £5 IIRC. I like the independently controllable rise and fall times, something modern pulse generators lack. But AWGs can do that to some extent.

Yes my AWG does that. It’s pretty neat the things one little box can do now.

I’d still have a dedicated analogue PG if I had the space though. They’re much more fun

Actually, since we have no shortage of DMMs, an unusual one like that is just fine. If you're in a situation where being distracted by it is critical, just use another meter.

Some goodies on my local Craigslist. I have no interest in either. In fact, I think I would find that "clear" 87 somewhat distracting.

Aside from the novelty factor... I find it absolutely, utterly, completely resistible.  But hey; you'll at least be able to see the path of the lightning through the meter as it knocks you on your ass...

I'd have to have a few more zeroes in the savings account before I'd even consider buying it solely for that reason; I'd still probably buy a BM869S first.

The tubing will cost more than the meter did.

Yeah, especially in my case since they were all free from Horror Fraught.

Actually I considered that angle, but decided that the serendipity of how the original model number so easily lent itself to being Brumbified was evidence that it simply was meant to be. Besides; it's expected that an artist will sign his work.

I've spent too much time on this - especially for what it is.  Justification for efforts up to this point: Entertainment value for EEVblog members, but I have to wrap it up.

Artwork is done.  Just have to go through the production process.

The only way I could get it past SWMBO is if was income generating.  If I were to do otherwise, I might suddenly disappear...
