Well that was impressive LOL! (see pics). Connected a 48v input to the DPS5015 and a capacitor can hit the ceiling Yes, the polarity was correct - at least according to the silk screen on the PCBs - so need to look a bit closer at that. I'll put a new cap in DSP5015 and see if there's any life left in the thing, and this time check what the Chinese '48v PSU' is really putting out before connecting it...

Without those crimps you'd be picking up bits alloy and muck from everywhere and be from you as well.

OK, I replaced the cap on the DPS5015 and it still doesn't work. Looks like it's toast. Checked the '48v' mains PSU board and - it puts out 105v DC 

Re-check the listing (Ebay  ) and confirmed it was described as 220-240v input, but suspect it is actually 110v input (no markings on the board though). Filed a claim against seller but that doesn't get me my DPS5015 back...  So I should have checked the output first I guess, never trust these Chinese suppliers...

I thought all those were all relatively (<60V) DC input devices i.e. buck converters?

I took my MyDel power supply to bits. Seems relatively well put together.

The photos posted are of the power supply module that the other one was supplying power to and is indeed looking for around 48VDC to be supplied, not 105VDC

Ahhhahahahahaha maybe not. Amazon are totally dire at the moment in this space. I got sent used stuff, empty boxes and they mix their fulfilment up with 3rd parties now if the SKU is the same. Aliexpress is far more reputable. Bezos didn't get rich doing a good job, just buy pushing the profit margin up. Ferengi scum.

And there is another buck convertor board to go in as well, took a while to find one suitable for 48V>12V just to supply the fans (200mA) but I got one. Just as well that wasn't connected.

You're right, it is ticked 63v, and there is an empty 48v box above it...    There are no jumpers to set the output. The input caps on the 5015 are rated 65v so, although at max v, would not have immediately exploded like it did.

I think it does mostly, maybe this was a clearance item or something. I do reckon they screwed up on the pricing and it should have been 39.99 but hey - the order went through and I doubt the storeman/automated machine will argue so let's see if it turns up
