Has everyone gone to the moon  :-DD

Do they have nice pieces of kit over there?
I'm not sure but they are supposed to have plenty of cheese in stock!

It's a bit dated, but very nice regardless.

Yeah, there's some stuff there.  Shipping will be a bitch, though.

Lies! The cheese is made out of moon!

Also, don't worry about the shipping, I'll go and pick it up myself in a cherry tesla roadster.

Locating it would be a bit difficult too after all these years.

Trusty Mr. Crowbar is coming along for such eventualities. I also heard it has a Lambda on it with a 3 in super script, it's a very mysterious object!

Well what with the broken windscreen if you chuck full heat at it and the broken door glass from Mr. Crowbar, you'll be frozen solid.

Nothing too exciting eBay-wise for me. Tried to snipe an Agilent 3499A with modules to play with, but I wasn't shooting very high and got out-sniped. On to the next item.

This is interesting, my repair que is down to 5 items.
HP 5340A
Hickok 209A
B+K Precision 1801 (only partially broken and next)
Fluke 8200A, switches totally screwed.
HP 410B, probably simple as its only on the repair que for two capacitors.

Fixed yesterday alone,
Hickok 209A ( i got two)
Fluke 8000A
Fluke 8400A
Fluke 8800A

If anyone wants to reassemble my 8200A switches i got spare parts to do it now. My manual dexterity is not good enough to do it.

Also on the old fluke switches, let me make a recommendation to anyone whom it may concern, it doesn't matter how bad their screwed up never take them apart if you can help it. WD-40 branded contact cleaner and a few drops of sewing machine oil does wonders for them.

My luck has changed, I managed to grab a TTI TF930 for not a lot and a new office chair, mines about to collapse but its been a few weeks since got anything decent on there.

Very cool, Specmaster. I finally got refunded on the bogus DE-5000. Top-seller accounts have 7 days before eBay will intervene. Hacking that level of account seems to be a good way for scammers to get away with the loot.

The B&K was an easy fix, dirty switch. It has a few interesting tantalums however, yellow violet yellow with a black dot, i think it is 4.7u 6.3v?

Yeh, what I tend to if I get a whiff of iffy ness, especially if the seller has a few of an item, I look through peoples feedback and see if anyone else in the area has already received one of the items, then if I still feel a little uncomfortable, I double check by searching in the "Sold" for the item to see if it was actually properly recorded as a sale.

Yeah, this one was tricky because it was recently hacked. So, everything looked good and then the flood of negative feedback started. Oh, well.

Yeah, I had one of those last summer on a set of Tiger MN7005s listed as "new other"; it sounded too good to be true (typical ~$200 ea) but I figured even if they were clones they could still be worth it if they were really clones of that model at 6 pieces for $300.

Did the usual research, they looked good, though only a few items in the RC hobby. I figured I'd take a chance as PP had my back. Two days later I got an eMail from PayPal that eBay had canceled the transaction and refunded my account.

Annoyed me a bit, but I'd rather see them being proactive like that than some of the horror stories I've seen...

So you've never thought of stacking some 3V LR44's and adding some copper or brass tubing and covering it all in shrink sleeve to make the same length as a 15V cell ? Really, I thought you'd be a bit more like Blackadder with a surprisingly cunning plan.  :P  :horse:

Hello, Darling!

I've been doing that for decades... only I just roll them up in a bit of letter paper and tape it up with cello tape. I suppose you could put heat-shrink on it, but that would make reloading it a bit of a PITA...

Now in these parts admitting this is half liable to get me stoned but i have a broken Hickok 209A and HP410B and for lack of use for either i'm just going to leave them in the repair que. The Hickok because i have one working one and the HP because it's acting too weird for me to comfortably work on it at this point.

Between those individual reasons and me not feeling the least bit qualified to fix either one at this point, lack of a way to test vacuum tubes and lack of money to throw at them, i have i think a pretty good reason to let them sit in the repair que.

A tube tester is on my list now too, and my repair que is now empty of reasonable fixes. Only ones left are 3 vacuum tube units and the 5340A.

There's nothing wrong with leaving things in your repair queue.  I don't even want to think about how long mine is at this point.  And due to get longer - for reasons beyond my comprehension, I now have a non working HP 208A test oscillator on order from our favorite cash vampire.  To compound the lunacy, a service manual for said non functional piece of gear does not, at least after an admittedly cursory search of the usual suspects (KO4BB, BAMA, Keysight and Artek) does not appear to be readily available for less than I'm willing to spend...

To reiterate a comment I made in an earlier post - yeah, I'm an idiot.  Why do you ask?   |O

You are right, there isn't, unless you happen to be obsessive. and bored.

As for the manual sometimes it just happens that way that there is no manual.
