Sucks it's still like that anywhere. Very few care what colour or polarity you are here in London
It's one of our few good characteristics.
For quite a long time, whenever I got into a conversation about 'race' I always ended up saying something qualified with "... but I don't really know that many Black people". Then later I think for a bit and realise that I had inadvertently mislead people because my mate Mani is almost as black as the ace of spaces, Charlie's Indian, Reg is Chinese,... and I work through my list of friends and realise that half of them are what some people would class as 'non-white'. Us Londoners just don't see someone's 'colour' first any more unless someone draws our attention to it. In the last few years the only overt racism I've overheard in London is from the odd old white man, the odd Islamophobe nutter (also usually male and white), and, ironically, young Black men.
