I have been thinking I might need a decent 3A / 30v supply at the moment. Will see if there are any PL330's on eBay  :palm:

Yes that's' completely normal for an addict. If you need to buy another now to get you through the day, go ahead - and don't worry about what anyone else thinks. You have to be happy.
I told my friends I could teach them to be funny, but they all just laughed at me.

Gutted. My evilBay score of a R&S Arbitrary Function Generator arrived... but it didn't really survive transit very well... The seller had put it in a sturdy Keysight box but it was way too big for it with way too little packaging inside to protect it and needless to say it's rattled and banged about inside the box :palm: Lots of bits of broken plastic now floating around the box and the handle on the right hand side is ruined. It also rattles inside.... It was bought as faulty and needing repair but now I don't know if there is any other faults caused by the poor packaging :--

Ugh I hate it when that happens. Raise a claim against the seller if there are any visible problems with the packaging. eBay will sort it. It's usually my local Hermes driver that fucks up my stuff:

Yeah I will get in touch with the seller tonight. It's strange, he was really proactive and sent a nice message through saying he hoped I could fix the unit and make it so I could get good use out of it, he even went and shipped it ParcelForce 24 which isn't a cheap service, it cost him more than we paid in postage. I'd have been happy with ParcelForce 48 but hey... Then he rushes to get it sent out and doesn't bother to pack it properly...

I can't believe Hermes throw parcels over your fence... That's just crazy!

Best Regards,

Rachael

Oh, that sucks!  It's not terribly difficult to pack things; I don't understand why it presents such a huge challenge to so many sellers.   ::)

It's extremely frustrating when something that's valuable or rare is damaged due to incompetence by the shipper.   |O

In his defense, he may not have thrown it.  He could have reached over the top and dropped it.    :P  Perhaps you need to get a mattress or trampoline to put under the gate when you're expecting deliveries.

In seriousness, that stinks.   :wtf:  I hope the items weren't terribly damaged.

Well the first package was portmeirion pottery. Smashed to bits.

The second was a Heathkit nixie counter. This surprisingly survived unscathed as it was very well packaged.

He does properly sling it over. My neighbour caught him doing it the third time and had words. There is now an understanding that if he does it again, his van tyres will be stabbed in. One of the joys of living next to a Latvian wide boy. He's really nice but intimidating as fuck when he wants to be :)

So I re-read the list, but I don't see anything on it for that feeling during the time when you order a piece of test equipment on eBay but the seller hasn't shipped it yet.  Where you keep going back to your eBay account to see if it has shipped, even though you know they would email a notification that it had shipped.  But you think that maybe somehow you missed the email or it got lost on the Internet somewhere.  So you go back again to refresh the order page...

Still waiting to see shipment on my GDM-8251A meter.  (refreshes eBay page)  Nope, not yet.   :(

Worse is when it says it already shipped because all they did was print out the label. 3 days later and the shipping service still says nothing more than "shipping label printed".

I'm already antsy over mine (same Instek meter) and I just paid for it today. LOL. This is getting bad... I want it NOW!.

That's the first and last time that poor Rigol will work - it's upside down and now all the electrons have fallen out.  :-DD

I have no idea why, but the stupid camera in the phone ALWAYS makes the image upside down.

Sometimes this isn't the fault of the seller.  I've sent about 200 packages out to eBay buyers in the last year and a half.  A few times I would dump it at the post office and the tracking wouldn't update for two days.  I don't remember for sure but I think once it probably was just sitting for two days at the local post office, but other times it was really in transit but they must not have bothered to scan the bar code.

But usually the tracking is accurate.  Which means whatever you bought still hasn't shipped.    :)

I had to go back and look to see what that one was - first thing that popped to mind was Test Equipment Envy, from seeing things here and elsewhere on this forum, which will often lead to ESI (EvilBay Search Inspirition), which is then followed by BCCS (Burning Credit Card Syndrome) and DBA (Drained Bank Account).

Ouch!!  Not cool.  I hope the delivery company replaced it or at least reimbursed you.

Glad to hear the nixies were not hurt!!  That'd be a hangin' offense in my book.

WHy did you choose 8251A over the HP 3478A? I'm torn between the two myself.
