Hi there,
I've recently purchased an Agilent DSOX2012A with a couple of add on software licences (and it's a superb bit of kit so far); all is working well.  :-BROKE

I wanted to try the RS485+CAN bus protocols before I set down the £££ for both of their respective licences, so I pressed the "Start 30 day trial" button, which seemed to unlock the entire scope for 30 days. :)

If I press Help -> About, I get a list of all the software packages; the ones I have purchased do not have an asterisk after each package, all the trial licences do (with an expiry date listed for all asterisked ones).

Most of them are fairly self-explanatory, however there are some I can't work out what features they have added, nor if it's worth buying them when they expire.

The "unknown" modules, currently in 30-day trial mode are:
DIS
ASV
RML

Does anyone have any pointers?

Cheers,
Dan

Well ASV is the Agilent Spectrum Visualizer software.

Not sure about DIS and RML though.

DIS
ASV
RML

ASV is the spectrum analyser as grego said.

DIS is the demo license set itself, as far as i can tell... (possibly Demo Installer Software)
RML may be some form of remote management/control interface?

The one that puzzled me is that I have the memory upgrade MEMUP, which seems to be the only memory size upgrade available, yet during the trial period it showed MemMax*.

Any idea what, if anything, the difference is? (I have a 3000X).

I have the exact same thing on mine (2000x). I paid for and installed the DSOX2MEMUP licence widget (100kps -> 1Mkps I think), AFTER I pressed "Start the 30 day trial" button, but before the trial expired. Like yours it didn't appear, but only MEMMAX* is showing with a 30 day expiry.

My hope is, when the trial runs out MEMUP will magically appear, fully licensed. If not I'm going to then reinstall the licence file; and if it still doesn't take... maybe have a quick chin wag with Agilent to resolve.   :-/O

Thanks again to all for their replies on the 3x acronyms.

I'd have thought they'd tested this... after all, the idea is that you try out the option, like it, then fork out for the permanent licence key.

I did the same a few weeks ago on the COMP option (RS232/UART decoding); IIRC the * next to COMP disappeared, and when the trials ran out it carried on working just fine.

DIS means "distributor" licence : the complete demo mode including extra demo apps
RML means "Remote Logging" licence, some logging saved on an external device like a USB drive.
Both can't be bought from Agilent/distributors.

MEMUP and Memmax have the same effect. Only Memmax is activated through the DIS licence, and MEMUP is the one that you can buy from Agilent/distributors.

Speaking of - I just optioned up my X3024A to add MSO .. kind of neat that Agilent also sends a little "MSO Enabled" sticker with the license and probes.
