Thanks for the pictures.  Better late than never!  ;)

These meters are also made for Snap-on and Bluepoint.  I always wondered what it looked like inside.

I can't find any info on the Summit-8 IC.  I can't even find the company Summit (presumably based out of Japan)?

I also can't think of which Korean manufacturer who might be making these for TPI/Snap-on/Bluepoint.

Summit/TPI is a small Korean multimeter company (53 employees) based in Inchon.
The DMM ADC is probably a relabeled Japan product.

I bought it from digikey couple of years back. Still gives accurate readings..checked it with 0.05% resistors. The fuses are unmarked but 600V is punched on caps. I am happy with it..particulary when it is powered by 2AA cells.

Thanks for the links.  I would not have thought of using alibaba as a search engine.

If you like it, that is all that matters.

I'm a fan of the AA meters as well, but you have to be aware of potential battery leaks.

I noticed the 153 manual states 200 hours battery life which would imply a 12mA current consumption assuming 2400mAh AA alkaline.  At 12mA, that would be more than double the Ideal multimeter in Dave's $100 multimeter shootout.
