TEK 466 picture
« on: July 01, 2021, 04:25:43 pm »
Hello! Does anyone have any experience with the effect of the value of the series resistor R1514 7.5 Ohm in the glow circuit of the TEK 466 screen on the brightness of the image? Mine has 8.6 Ohms and the screen doesn't seem to be in good condition ... And can the C 1514 in the same circuit be replaced with an electrolyte? I had him shorted. Thank you!

I do not know about those components, but as I recall, the 464/466 storage CRT had a pretty poor display.  Others reported better performance so maybe it was just the particular 464 that I used.

My experience with the 7834 storage CRT is completely different and while dim compared to an equivalent non-storage CRT, they are very sharp compared to the 464 I used.

What is your measurement setup? It can be tricky to get an accurate reading at values that low.

Measured when the socket is removed from the screen, so nothing can distort the value of the resistance. How do I insert a photo or video here? Is the size limited? Thanks!

Before deciding that something is wrong, I would go through the CRT and especially the CRT storage calibration procedures.
