I know that I'm being a bit annoying here (sorry). I just find the use of "learning ability" as a reason for not implementing a feature to be a bit provoking.

It's fair to prioritize based on how many find something valuable, which is probably why ascii is missing for parallel signals.

For example, how about enabling pattern "trigger" for the Search function? That would enable us to capture and decode a long data sequence from a parallel bus including its handhake signals, then look for particular situations (patterns) on those lines and highlight them via search markers.
Well you would learn much more by not having this feature I think :)

I was serious about this proposal. How would you currently deal with a data bus which addresses various devices, where you want to review all (!) write accesses to one particular device? You can trigger on the desired combination of R/W and CS states, but then you will miss a lot of accesses during trigger re-arming gaps. But you cannot search for this combination of states in a longer capture.

Not sure how serious you are about the pain level caused by the lack of ASCII decoding.  ::)
I never talked about "learning ability", by the way; not sure where you got that itch from.

Discussing the sense or not of a possible feature for siglent scopes would make more sense in one of the siglent feature threads.

I agree, and will propose the pattern search in the SDS800X HD feature request thread. I was just trying to discourage the request for a particular Siglent feature (parallel ASCII decoding) based on a "need" which is caused by Batronix' choice of a demo gimmick.

It is faster than that...

Estimate cca. 270-280ps ...

Measuring 480ps on scope with 400ps risetime. 500ps on scope with with 420ps risetime and 521ps on one with 440ps risetime..

Used good quality 200mm cable.

Hehe don't you just love it when math works...

Built in clock source on board is extremely jittery ...
So I did a bit of creative thinking and disconnected fast logic gate (pulled the jumper so it does not get signal) and in jumper connected external signal from AWG. I fed it 100MHz.

Not only that little gate on Batronix board works just nice with 100Mhz clock, the rise/fall times are exactly where I calculated they would be... ^-^

Nice!
I was already thinking about designing the part with the logic gates as an external signal shaper, you have shown nicely that it is possible in principle.

Gate worked up to 240 MHz but it was jittery. Up to 150 Mhz it worked quite Ok.
Make note I didn't properly terminate driving side.

If you create proper termination for driving side it would be even better.

I looked at the eye of signal coming out of this gate and at 120MHz clock (240MBit signaling rate) it looked damn impressive....
It is amazing how far the technology went.. this is cheap as peanuts simple logic gate....

I went through the whole demo board again with my new HD scope. I forgot to do bw limits a couple times, but it all looks pretty good anyway.

This reminds me to take the board to work next week so that two new colleagues can get to know the features of an oscilloscope.

That board is such a great reminder of what these scopes can do. Some of it I forgot existed in the last year since I used it on my previous scope.

There are a few people here in the forum who have one - I think that's good, because then you can compare measurements because everyone has the same denominator.
I would like to have an update with signals that can emphasize the difference between 8 bit and 12 bit and maybe a few more decoders.

I totally agree. I was already planning to look through my tests with the Plus model to see if there are any good comparisons. I did do a lot of tests in 10-bit mode, so it's not as drastic as 8-bit. The jump from 8-bit to 10-bit was a pretty big deal with some of the tests.

What I really want is Siglent to add ascii support to the parallel bus decoding.

Here, it's not that exciting, but you can see the difference. You can still see obvious improvements over the 10-bit mode also.

Make one! That should only cost 5 times as much. 😉

If I remember correctly, the EEVBlog discount is still valid, so at least this demo board would be the cheapest on the market (of the known boards).
The Batronix, Rigol and Siglent boards contain a lot of signal shapes that you first have to get right.
I think it is this software effort that makes up the price.
It's certainly not the hardware itself.

Just tried it out, it still works.
Enter "EEVBlog", it costs 159 (excl. VAT/Shipping)again like at the beginning.

We (R&S) have designed and built two scope demo boards during the last 10-15 years. I can assure you that they are not cheap to design or manufacture.

Don't worry, I'm well aware that the 5x cost estimate is much lower than reality. But also, feel free to send me a couple demo boards. 😉😉
