Siglent SVA Distance to Fault
« on: September 13, 2022, 02:56:27 pm »
Hi,

I was looking at testing some long runs of Heliax  coaxial cable with my SVA1000X plus (upgrade from SSA) using the DTF mode which I believe uses FDR to provide its measurements.

The screenshots online and the manual seem to have options that are not visible on my screen.  Display mode units for example.

Here is my screen (nothing is connected)

And here is a screenshot from the web

On the scond screenshot the right hand menua is labelled "Meas" but if I select "meas" or "Meas Setup" on my DTF screen nothing happens.

I would be most grateful if someone could shed light on this. I am sure it will be a real public face-palm moment for me, but nevertheless, I'd love to know. :)

Thanks

Eloso

These are screenshots of the old software (around 2019r), now it has changed and looks different (just like your screenshot). "Meas" is inactive and the menu name is set to "DTF".
In fact, they apparently forgot to remove the "Measure" option from the on-screen menu, which could be misleading.

One from a Sept 2019 post measuring 2 coax cables in series, one 700mm and the other a 5m run.
Velocity factor left at the default 0.66 and markers added at the peaks where the joins/ends obviously are.
