Siglent SSA3021X Plus EMI Standard levels issue
« on: September 07, 2023, 09:36:25 am »
So shall start to say that I am a newbie when it comes to the Siglent (just got it!), and forgotten much when it comes to using a spectrum analyzer in general.  :)

My problem is that I want to activate one of the Standard Limit for conducted emission, namely the 55032 (COND CLASSB AMN AVG). So I load it from the file system into e.g. limit 1.
(I am running in EMI Mode).
But:- instead of the limit starting at around 60dBuV, it is way up at 163dBuV, out of sight, so to speak.

I realize I must have missed something, but... what?

Maybe someone else has had this problem, or know exactly what I am missing?

Turns out this is known issue, and a FW fix is due shortly.

have you seen this video

https://youtu.be/M_57a7WzHCQ

i just dialed in the emi levels manually
I am sure you can save the lines, and recall later when needed

that ONE day at EMC lab we saved so much lab time using the Siglent, the saved time = money,
was about halve of the cost the SSA to put things into perspective :-)

So in my case it is the plus. I have not upgraded to the latest FW, since according to support, the issue is still there. But there's a new FW "coming soon".

I can, of course dial the standards in myself, but I managed without it for now. Next time I'll do some tests, hopefully the new FW is out. Just wanted to give this feedback if someone also had this issue.

To reduce any confusion please consider an edit to the thread topic.

Never be reluctant to install the new versions as it's dead simple and very risk free.

Might be delayed as I've just reported a EMI mode issue too and to do with how the levels in 55032 are managed, a little different to your issue.

:-+
It's important this is corrected as ppl buy these models expressly for EMI work so they need work as outlined in the standards.
Keep the feedback coming as it's important.

Well, it is the time thing as well. Or the lack of it, that is. And it is also super boring to update, so I am happy they told me it would not make any difference.

Maybe it is the same issue(?), it is a calculation error, I was told. Well, anyway I'm glad if you have found something new, so I don't have to stumble onto it later!  :)

No different, customer reported the units error which latest FW fixed then to find a minor levels error, certainly different from that you report.

Really, update the firmware. Have you not read the last lot of release notes ?

OK.

Well, yes I have read the release notes, but if it does not fix the one thing that I was struggling with, I prefer to wait. Now I am anyway not really going to use it until next EMC tests, which is a couple of weeks away. Hopefully there's  a new official version by then!
