I don't in any way need another oscilloscope - by all rights one should be plenty for me.  But I have 3 (now that I received a used Owon HDS272S).  Last year (?) it was everything I could do to not buy the SDS2104X Plus I really don't need  when Siglent had their promo.  I can tell it'll be the same when the SDS800X comes out - particularly if they have some sort of end of year promo on it - assuming I don't succumb before then.

I had already pre-ordered an SDS3034X HD from "my" distributor at the beginning of January.
Did you order with a blank check or did they give you a price?

LOL, where in the deep bowels of YT did you find that ?

Shared already privately and needed some corrections WRT issues seen in Digital that couldn't be replicated by others. The Bus issue has been confirmed as a bug so will be addressed in forthcoming FW.

Paging @TheDefpom... What about the upgrade to 200 MHz bandwidth and more memory?  :)
Had a quick look at this before sending it to Defpom.... :-X

I think they already confirmed license ver 1.0 for this.

Good point, but I'd guess at least some improvements are available. 😉

When the dealers have listed the devices from February 28, we will see under "Accessories" which options are available for which model.
It was clear quite early on that the 800s (and 1000s AFAIK) are "expandable" with the well-known script.
I think as long as they don't make any major changes, it will remain the case that only the larger models can't be hacked in this way.

Yes, power analysis -- but neither bandwidth nor memory upgrades.  :(
Hmm, my SDS1204X HD now has it.  ;)

Well,
Looking in the datsheet of the 1000X-E, there´s no word about bandwith upgrade but we all know it is possible.

Was just going to mention that.

Rob or Defpom are just going to have to give it a go!!!

Inquiring minds need to know!!!!

Again, regarding the SDS814X HD, it would be most helpful if either @tautech or @TheDefpom could just state whether a bandwidth and/or memory upgrade are possible.
As mentioned, I had only a short time to investigate this and not fully.
The remaining Q in my mind is what is possible with the even cheaper 70 MHz SDS804X HD.

We will learn how siglent really feels about hacked upgrades.  Hobbiest marketing tool or eating at higher model sales?

Measured against their now legitimate claim, this is more of a tolerated annoyance in the lowest end price range up to 3000€.
And that's not just plucked out of the air, to put it kindly.

Doesn't look like the tear-down from a couple of days ago is posted in any previous posts.
* Its a hidden video, so it won't pop up in a search..
Teardown video has been recorded...

Hello,

Is it possible to measure the mains frequency by setting the trigger to line and activating the counter? I can't do it with the Rigol DHO1074.

Best regards

Really?  Literally any DSO, even a $50 cheapie, should be able to measure mains frequency.

Yes with prototype SDS1204X HD.
Only available in the always active HW counter displaying our 50 Hz line frequency. (Top right)

I don't expect SDS800X HD to not also show the line frequency but can check this when I get my unit back from Defpom.

Hello,

The R&S RTA4000 makes it possible. With Agilent DSO6104L and the Rigol DHO1074 I couldn't manage it. Of course it doesn't work with USB devices either.
If I remember correctly, it works with the Rigol DS1054z and the Siglent SDS2104X Plus.

Best regards
egonotto

P.S.: It's strange that it's exactly 50,00000 Hz, I've never measured that here before.

Normal Trig counter (right top screen) naturally counts trig, where ever it come. Select trigger source to AC Line and thats it.
Source can be C1-C4, AC Line, D0 - D15

But special separate Counter function (Freq, Period, Totalizer) source can only be analog input channels C1-C4
BEV of course. Cars with smoke exhaust pipes - go to museum. In Finland quite all electric power is made using nuclear, wind, solar and water.
