If "buyer pays shipping" then I'd rather not be shipping it to China.

Another good reason to avoid grey market! And that's if they'll warranty it at all.

It would have to be much cheaper for me to risk it, but it generally isn't.

eg. I just looked and a Rigol DHO804 is about 10% cheaper on Aliexpress than from Batronix.

Not worth it to me.

(Maybe I would if I was buying 100, I'm sure failure rate is well under 10% so I could afford a couple of spares)

you dont ask warranty coverage from grey supplier, you ask/email direct to HQ, thats the trick. that even if they have the balls to honour anybody willing to buy their brand name regardless of where from. dso cannot be counterfeited, not that i know of... btw it seems you dont get the morale of the story of my Canon lens above, nevermind... ymmv.

That's not how it works. When you buy grey market / unlicensed gear, you don't get a warranty. Only the seller might warranty the item. It's a breach of contract, or illegal sale, and the manufacturer is under no obligation to warranty those items. If they do, it's a courtesy, and nothing more. However, that courtesy is likely wishful thinking.

I just started reading this thread and was disgusted to find that 90% of it is people being dicks to each other or crap like that, this thread should be about the scope, not how superior each person feels over the others, jeeze.

Get over yourselves already, talk about the topic.

Big thanks to Siglent for the prerelease SDS814X HD that arrived today.

First impressions are very nice and I am quite sure these will be very popular at the price they will be released for.  :-X
What's new vs similar Siglent existing compact models.
Touch display of course.
The existing SDS2000X Plus, 2000X HD, 5000X, 6000A User interface is significant improvement/enhancement from the UI first released in SDS2000X some years back which later migrated into all their compact DSO's.
New improved probes, the same PP510 that we already know but slightly more compact and now with the compensation trimmer in the BNC termination.
A Power Analysis option offered in this class of instrument is also an interesting feature.

As has been discussed/revealed I/O's are what we have in the 4ch X-E's with the addition of VNC and remote file management.

Anyone spot the WiFi solution in use ?
TL-WR802N mini router in bridge mode using the rear USB A for power.  :)

Some pics or it's all lies.  :P

And a USB screenshot.

Get over yourselves already, talk about the topic.

I guess a big part of the problem is that most of us don't have access to the new models yet, so there is mostly speculation and personal preferences, based on limited facts. I highly recommend Performa01's review thread instead, which is based on his in-depth hands-on testing: https://www.eevblog.com/forum/testgear/sds800x-hd-review-demonstration-thread/

TL-WR802N mini router in bridge mode using the rear USB A for power.  :)

With a proper USB WiFi dongle sitting right on top of it, to show how much more elegant the solution could be if Siglent wanted to?  ;)
Yet initial tests with TL-WR802N mini router in bridge mode proves NTP automatically sync'ing at boot is more reliable.
Tested with TL-WR802N powered before boot and powered from the scope at boot.
When powered by the scope NTP sync is not immediate but syncs shortly after.

For those without LAN connection at the bench and with multiple units needing LAN, the TL-WR802N mini router in bridge mode and a cheap switch is a better connectivity solution than just the USB WiFi dongle.

Data point for the 100 MHz badged SDS814X HD = -3dB BW ~155 MHz

Source SDG6022X terminated into 50 Ohm feedthrough.
Checked @ 10 MHz = 1V p-p

Just a quick try with the AWG module SAG1021I before everything gets bundled up to go to Defpom later today.
SAG is powered via the USB hub I showed in this post:

One good feature Siglent should add to SDS800X is a DC socket in the back of the scope so that users could power the scope using a battery powerpack or powerbank in cases where no AC available, during a power failure or powering from batteries is desirable.

80W max power consumption is not exactly suitable for battery support.

If a more portable DSO is needed Siglent's SHS800X with inbuilt Lithium is already available:

I didn't realized it was 80W, haven't checked datasheet, that way forget my suggestion.

Portable units SHS800X are only 2CH, I need 4CH. Looks like I'll have to go for a micsig then.

You need to.
80W is max and 40W typical.

Are those power ratings "real" or overly conservative?
I'll ask Defpom to check when he does his review.....or maybe he will see this while doing his 800X HD research.
He has my SDS814X HD now......

Are those power ratings "real" or overly conservative? The SDS1000X HD is specified as "120 W max., 70 W typical", which is another big step up for a larger display and maybe a more powerful FPGA.

Although the power supply units are designed for a wide input voltage range, I don't know off the top of my head exactly what voltage this power rating refers to, there´s no hint in the datasheet.

Quote
At the same time Martin72 and others have reported that the 2000X HD, which has the same power rating, has whisper-quiet fans -- which seems really hard to achieve if they have to remove 70 W of heat.

The scope also warmed up really quickly. ;)

Yes, I know, I can switch off power to the whole bench. But sometimes I have long-term other experiments running, and don't want to unplug individual standby power hogs.
