Siglent SDS2000X-E Unlock BW 350 MHz help.
« on: February 23, 2020, 10:30:26 am »
Hello !

Please tell me if it is possible to crack the BW range up to 350 MHz on the model
SDS2202X-E?
I have a model SDS2000X-E serries Akip 4126 / 1e 100 MHz for Russia. For iron models SDS2352X-E, SDS2202X-E, Akip 4126 / 1e should be the same.

Perhaps the BW lock is installed with capacitors, as in the SDS2000X model.

It is necessary to compare the input path of the model SDS2352X-E and the model I have Acip 4126 / 1e.

Or maybe someone will share photos of the board in good quality. Interested in a photo of the input tracts near the relle.

For comparison, I post my photos.

Sorry for my English.

These areas are especially interesting on the board with the SDS2352X-E model

The hack is simple, no HW changes required.

I read this topic thank you very much!
But I can’t get SCOPEID.
I execute the SKOPEID command but I get nothing in response.

Good day! How about the rise time after the hacking oscilloscope. Did anyone make a comparison before the hack and after the hack?

Not that I know of but here's some risetimes of a factory SDS2352X-E using one of Leo's early pulsers:
https://www.eevblog.com/forum/testgear/siglent-sds2000x-e/msg2097766/#msg2097766

I see no reason why a hacked one will be any different.

A -3dB point BW check of both the 200 and 350 MHz models are a bit later in the thread.

Hmm... Do you think it is software limitation, and SDS2202X-E with SDS2352X-E have the same hardware?

Yes, as it it with many brands of scopes from the same model series.
I like these little scopes as they offer good horsepower, features and BW for a good price.

Others will point you to how to 'improve' the 200 to 350 MHz....I might get growled at for doing so.

Interesting to learn that Siglent uses Russian silkscreen text on the buttons for the Russian market.

Do they do this on all Siglent oscilloscopes?

Interesting to learn that Siglent uses Russian silkscreen text on the buttons for the Russian market.

And it is really awful. E.g. the Russian "analog" of SDS2202X-E is "АКИП-4126/2Е" and it has "ВЕРТИК" (VERTIC) instead of VERTICAL, "ЦИФР" (DIG) instead of DIGITAL and a lot of other not very good abbreviations. I'm Russian myself but I'd really prefer to use the original Siglent product.

I'm considering purchasing SDS2202X-E and I am interested in upgrading its bandwidth up to 350 MHz. As I see from your post, you successfully did it, right? Do I understand the upgrading process right:
1. I'm getting "scope id" via SCPI (can it be done via some kind of web-interface or do I need to install an app?)
2. I'm getting "scope serial number" (via some menu item like scope information?)
3. I run a python script from the other thread.
4. I get some keys from that script which I enter into the scope.
5. Scope has extended bandwith.
Right?

In Russian.

Right?
Nearly right.
There is no option box within the scope to upgrade the BW so it must be done with SCPI commands and the simplest way is from the web server SCPI command panel.
Some study in the forum will find the correct SCPI command.   ;)

Yeah, I've found the step-by-step guide a bit later :) The commands are (without quotes) "SCOPEID?" and "MCBD <key>".

Now the only tiny thing left is to order the scope :)

I just enabled the SDS2102X Plus to 500MHz with tv84 help. Ok to be honest, it wasn't 500MHz, it's ~615MHz   ;D

https://www.eevblog.com/forum/testgear/siglent-sds2000x-plus-hack/msg3345964/#msg3345964

Note that when dealing thru the scopes "Options" the keys are in lower case, but with SCPI MCBD the key is upper case :o

Also think that when dealing with "Options" entry the DSO model is updated, but not so with SCPI, you must follow procedure mentioned above (which I haven't done yet).

Once you get the SDS2104X Plus, you will thank tautech & tv84 over and over again. Amazing DSO, and what a value :-+

kde is looking at the SDS2202X-E, it's a 200 MHz 2 GSa/s 28 Mpts DSO for just $619 and hacked it can be 350 MHz and while it doesn't have all the fruits of the X Plus series these are still a fine little DSO for those on a limited budget. Capability is the same as other X-E models (MSO, AWG, WiFi) but the higher BW and 2 GSa/s is more desirable to some than the 1 GSa/s 1000X-E series.

Once you get the SDS2104X Plus

SDS2104X Plus seems like a very interesting model (considering bandwidth upgrade), but it's €899 vs. €539 for SDS2202X-E at siglent.eu or $1200 vs $700 at amazon with delivery. And I am not sure whether I need to pay extra VAT at customs office, and if I do it will add 20% more.

But they both have 2 GSa/s, so I hope that SDS2202X-E (upgraded to 350 MHz) will be able to show 500 MHz signals too. Currently I have 1 GSa/s 100 MHz Rigol and it shows 170 Mhz without significant amplitude decay, so it gives me the same hope about Siglent.

That price is wrong. Siglent SDS2104X Plus - € 1,390.84 incl. 16% VAT at Batronix.

You saw 2ch version.

Yes, you are right. I really saw the 2ch version. 4ch is obviously great but it's completely beyond my financial capabilities (€1,199 excluding VAT).
