Hello,

I'm trying to measure voltage with SCPI command in python from a capture with my SDS1204E-E but I can't. All commands that I have found are not recognized. This post is the only one where I got commands that work but still no succes to measure.

I wrote a python script that return a value or an error on timeout for severals commands. Here is the output (command answer/timeout):

Code: [Select]
*IDN? Siglent Technologies,SDS1204X-E,SDSMMFCC5R0424,8.3.6.1.37R10

How to do gate measurement ?
I have attached a screen capture done with the SCDP command

In the screen shot the source for the cursors is Channel 3, in your script you use Channel 1. Perhaps this is the error.

I have changed C1 to C2 then C3 and C4, same issues. To the command C1:WF? I got 00E+002200003
What is the format of this return ?

This is in the programming manual, this should be the current one, page 263:

No.

But you have some work to do to get to the latest versions, FW and OS.
Do some study:
https://int.siglent.com/download/firmwares/?ProId=12

No problems after upgrading. Did not push V3 OS though.

Updates are trivial, I was only interested in side effects for users that have hacked functions. I think it is very unlikely Siglent will/can break the keying, since they would need to reissue licenses to all their legitimate users.
They also don't care, the only people using keygen'd licenses are hobbyists.

In the many years and many updates for many models I don't recall ever losing a licence to an update process.

Thanks Peter, I'm able to get the trace. I will read the pdf guide to search if I can place cursors and get the voltage at their locations

Strange that it's not available to download from eu site, but it is mentioned in the release notes if you click on it.

Oh yes they are, scroll down some.  ;)

That's a strange way of listing them. Why not all in one list? A lot of the releases are on both lists, but R10 was on the first list but not the second & R17 is on the second list, but not the first. Why split them up like that?

Unlike the na site, the eu site has the release notes for R17 in both lists, even though it doesn't appear in the first list.

Yes, you're right   ^-^ but indeed a weird way to list the different FW versions...

BTW: what is FG & LA?

I'd guess Function Generator and Logic Analyzer.  As in, make the scope talk to them.

New firmware for 4ch SDS1000X-E models

3. Standard software functions of FG, LA and WIFI
FWIW - Siglent also released new FW for the SDS800X HD series that had this same verbiage and I noticed that after installing it the LA and FG options no longer appear in the licenses screen, as if they are now automatically permanently enabled.

I don’t have access to my SDS1104X-E but I’d guess this is also the case here.

Just checked mine, no sign of any options menu now.  :-//

Though I do have some (not Siglent) special tools to reset options to zero/trial....wonder if anything appears if I do ?......

Anybody figure this out yet?    They really could improve their release notes, even going to so far as doubling their word budget could help.   ???

Has anyone figured out what the 'Optimize SDS1104X-E Bandwidth' means?

I find it interesting that although the FW release is for the 4 channel SDS1004X-E series, Siglent mentions the SDS1104X-E model specifically.

has anyone verified that:
1. this latest update does not affect an SDS1104X-E (100MHz) that has previously been upgraded to an SDS1204X-E (200MHz) using a user-installed option key,
2. when applied to a 'stock' SDS1104X-E (100MHz), if the update upgrades the bandwidth to be the same as that of an SDS1204X-E (200MHz) - ie, creating a new variant, a 200MHz scope that still identifies itself as an SDS1104X-E.

cheers,

Should be easy enough to test - just take an 'upgraded' scope and revert it back to 100MHz BW, then apply FW update and see what is reported.  I may try this later this afternoon if nobody else has done it by then.

Whatever this comment means, I doubt Siglent just turned all their 1104 models into 1204 models...

Considering that this update adds all the options as standard, I don't see why the bandwidth option would be different.
