Broken frame on HP-410B VTVM
« on: March 22, 2022, 04:59:10 pm »
Hello,
I have this VTVM with a broken front frame (the missing part has been lost).

It is made of some sort of metal alloy.

Does anyone have an idea of how to fix this ?
Thanks,
Michel.

Clean up another corner, and apply wax to it, and use it to make a mould of that corner. Then use that mould, placed on the broken section, and use 2 part metal loaded epoxy to make a filler piece. Then after the epoxy is cured sand down till it matches, and spray paint with silver paint the whole bezel, so that it looks like a single part, the paint covering the damaged section.

I cannot make a mould from any other corner as top and bottom corners are not identically shaped.
But I keep the idea of metal loaded epoxy.
Michel.

Go to http://www.kiss-electronics.com/index.htm and ask her if she has a frame. She does great work on the b and c models and is a source for parts.

Any luck yet? I've got a 410B with a burned out main transformer. I'd be willing to send the piece you need for the cost of shipping, which may not be cheap as I'm in USA.

Let me know if you still need it and I will check that it hasn't been damaged in it's years of storage, we'll figure best shipping option if it's OK.

Hi,

Thanks to all!

I think I may have two solutions on my side:

1) make a swap

2) make a mould from the good frame, to make a filler piece (never done that before)

I will probably try to go with 2) as I want to keep my 200CD intact.
