Siglent SDS1104x-e wobbly encoders
« on: March 17, 2021, 05:35:19 pm »
Hi everybody.

I got myself a new SDS1104x-e, which is a nice powerful scope in my opinion.

Coming from a Rigol DS1052e, I find the encoders on the siglent to be on the wobbly side, especially
the encoders with plastic shaft (and the smaller encoder knobs).

The encoders with detents and bigger knobs for the vertical and horizontal divisions have much less play in them, but still
much more than on my old scope.

I want to keep this machine, as I like it otherwise, but the encoders don´t give me the impression of a quality product, and
I am a little bit afraid that they will break sooner than later.

Are there any reports of the encoders to be a weak point of these scopes? I only found a thread of another siglent scope series (SDS2202X-E),
with tautech mentioning that there are no reports mentioning problematic encoders.

I still stand by that.
Just use it and the encoders will not give you any trouble.

There are many owners of these scopes on this forum now and if there were problems we would know about them.

Hello tautech,

Thank you for the fast reply, which gives me more confidence in just using it.
