Need help from Tektronix A6907 / A6909 owner or user
« on: May 03, 2017, 05:32:58 pm »
Anyone here own, use or have access to Tektronix A6907 or A6909 ?

Much appreciated if you could do me a favor , which are :

- Take a close up shots on the probe's connector body and the inner too, as its proprietary, preferably shot with measurements with caliper. (like length of the connector body, outer diameter, inner diameter, center pin and etc)

- Close up shots at the connector at the unit it self where this probe is connected, ditto with measurements.

- Those probes, all have that white box thingy, what is that ? Are they sort of a circuit box where the cable is connected inside ? Or just like snap-in ferrite that is galvanically isolated to the probe's cable ?

Attached below example photo of the Tek probes with few highlights on the questioned spots.

As this is not a BNC like ordinary scope's probe, does anyone have any idea what this connector is known as ?

Thanks in advance for all the troubles.

It is a balun to help with common mode high voltage slew rates at the tip.

Richard, I see, thank you. Do you own or ever used it ?

No I haven't. It would be interesting to see how well it works. One of the common used of something like this is to look at the gate waveform of a high side switching mosfet. The problem there is you can have a voltage dV/dT slew rate compared to ground of the order of 10 billion volts per second. That would be a good test. I haven't looked at the specifications to see what it can cope with.

According to it's spec, the max common mode slew rate 20KV/us.
