need some advice Siglent SDS1104X-E vs GW Instek GDS-2104a

hi, good night, im learning electronics and i need a good oscilloscope for study and work because i want to use it  when i repair laptops or cell phones etc in my lil workshop, before i made this post i read all the info that i can find about both oscilloscopes and see all the videos on youtube, i have 2 choices a brand new siglent sds1104x-E and one used GW Instek GDS-2104A(in good working condition) that a friend its trying to sale to me for almost the same price that i can buy a new siglent, i know that they are different kind, but the info abouth the gds-2104a(gds-2000a) its ambiguous, can somebody giveme an honest advice please?

I'll say "Instek!".

It's a $1300 'scope, "level 2" in the lineup, separate channel controls, nice to use, you'll be helping out a friendship ... plus you'll get free tech support and maybe similar great deals on other stuff in the future.

I'm sure the resident Siglent salesmen will be along in a second though...

You really need to ask what options the Instek has. It was a very optionable device.

And if not: can it be hacked to enable the licenses? The memory is short but having 4 channels at 300MHz is a nice to have if it can be hacked. And then there is the possibility of adding 8 or 16 logic channels.

On 2000A optional things are physical plug in modules..
Siggen, ethernet .... You need to look at the rear panel to see what is installed.
It is older gen device, but still good scope. If you don't need long mem good device, but a bit old school.
If it where 300 MHz (or if it can be unlocked) then it is no contest.
It alao has 2GS/s and ETS mode..
So for fas stuf really nice machine.
If  100 MHz iz enough, siglent has much longer mem, better FFT FRA...

I have had the GDS-2104E for many years.  It's an excellent scope with very good firmware - I have never come across a bug.
The user interface will be very intuitive if you've worked with a Tek scope.

Overall GW Instek makes very solid equipment which behaves predictably.

For repair of laptops or cell phones purpose as you said both of them are overkill.
