Siglent 1020 function generator language
« on: January 31, 2024, 06:09:23 pm »
Tried many times to set English language for this equipment without success.
Have followed Siglent faq but still does not work.  Point 4 of the fact does not say that you have to select 'default' to highlight 'English' which I have done but still it is not permanently selected. How do I make this happen? Thanks.

As best I can remember......
After getting English selected continue through the Utility menu until you find a Power On setting or similar and set this to Last, not default as it may return to Mandarin.

You might find others had this problem also:
https://www.eevblog.com/forum/testgear/the-sdg1000-and-sdg800-thread/

You might also check the firmware is the last version:

Tautech

Thanks for your input.
'power on' cannot be highlighted in order to save the English language for the system.

So i've tried updating the firmware by following the Siglent update instructions, but after unzipping the download and converting to an *.ads file, that files goes missing every time I attempt to update with the usb drive. I am able to confirm that with the originating download computer.

I've looked online to see if I can find an Australian authorised Siglent service centre for assistance, otherwise I have a relatively expensive door stop. I fear a third party dealer would only entertain helping if I had purchased from it, but I no longer remember that information.

Before I consider throwing a virtually new & unused piece of equipment into the rubbish do you have any idea where I could get help?

Thanks again for any help.

First establish the FW version already installed.
Then consult the Revision PDF in the firmware download package to see if there are any FW install steps required to get to the latest version.

I had a SDG1010 for some years and never had any issues apart from keypad button bounce that was fixed in later FW.
Keep trying, you will solve this.

I see that the latest version is V1.01.01.39R7, but I see no reference to the current version in the Utility menu, nor do I see anything on either the forums here or elsewhere online.
Do you know where it might be found?

I know the steps involved. They are in the Siglent faq & are easy to follow.

Should be listed in Sys Info within the Utility menu, maybe on P2 or 3.

Darn.  >:(
Leave this with me and I'll seek advice from Siglent however they are about to go on CNY holidays so might not have anything for you for a week or 2.

Before I do, I've downloaded the manual and studied the things we have discussed.
https://int.siglent.com/upload_file/user/SDG1000/SDG1000_UserManual_UM02010-E08B.pdf

Language P71
Utility > System (p2) > 2nd button > select English

Boot to Last P71
Utility > System (p2) > 3rd button (Power On) > press to toggle from Default to Last

Sys Info = EditInfo P82
This will display the SW/FW version installed.
In Utility menu ?

Update firmware P84
Follow the instructions.

Can you use the USB port with a PC and send some SCPI commands to it?

Set language to English:
LAGG EN

Set the power-on system setting to LAST:
SCFG LAST

*IDN?
The *IDN? query causes the instrument to identify itself. The
response is comprised of the manufacturer, model, serial number,
and firmware version

Thanks for your help thus far. I look forward to your further comments when you are able. You have been so helpful
I can't believe the issues below are so unintuitive

'power on' is greyed out' therefore 'last' cannot be selected.

'Edit info' cannot be found anywhere so current version cannot be established.

When attempting firmware upgrade the udisk does not retain the *.ads file. The browser option only shows its zip file?
