Tried some searching but came up empty - are there any dual display meters made these days? (Like the old Fluke 45, able to show two parameters at the same time.) I do a fair bit of power supply work and would love to simultaneously read AC & DC off one pair of test leads... thanks.
There are quite a few out there - unfortunately a lot of them read AC then read DC, then switch back to AC and repeat the cycle. This wouldn't be bad, but a lot of them also use a Relay to do so... with at the bare minimum will drive you nuts with the click click click click. The fluke 45 apparently does this as well with some combinations. See below, around 9:35.
My Rigol DM3058E does the same thing.
A while back I asked about models which actually did simultaneous AC+DC readings (
https://www.eevblog.com/forum/testgear/bench-dmm-with-simultaneous-dcac-rms/) without relay clicking. Someone recommended a HAMEG HMC8012.
There's a quick demo of the HAMEG HMC8012 simultaneous reading here:
And a longer review here:
I can't give you a real review of the HAMEG, but I can say that one is currently on order (finally, after over a year of delay) for my bench. For power supply work, look at the screen in the review at around 8:10... Voltage, Current, AND calculated power. Also look at the stats screen around 7:00.
As others have pointed out it's only a 5 3/4 digit, and the 1 year accuracy on some ranges isn't all that hot, but the readings should be far more accurate than I need for my work.
