SCPI over LAN with HP Infinium 54820A
« on: October 01, 2013, 05:26:11 pm »
In the past I've used SCPI over LAN with Agilent scopes by connecting to ports 5024 and 5025.  I have access to an old HP Infinium 54820A which has a LAN card.  The scope connects to the network (I can see it from the router).  But it doesn't respond on ports 5024 or 5025.  Anyone know if these scopes can be controlled by SCPI over the LAN port, or is only GPIB supported?  And if it should work over LAN any idea why it isn't listening on these ports?  Is there some magic setting to enable it that I've not discovered?

Thanks.

it depends on the firmware version. Lan control is there if the machine has 4.xx or later.
Agilent has a document describing what versions have the LAN.

Ah, the scope says the software revision is A.03.50, so that presumably explains why it isn't responding.  Is the firmware user-upgradable, and if so any idea where I'd find a more recent version (hopefully >= 4.xx)?

Thanks
