R&S CMU200 and CRTU-RU identity recovery
« on: December 14, 2018, 12:59:46 pm »
Hello,

I have a CMU200 and a CRTU-RU. The CRTU-RU stopped booting , no bios information etc... Suspected a CPU problem. I replaced the front panel (including the CPU board ) of my CRTU-RU with my CMU200 but using the disk from the CRTU-RU. Booted as version 4.34 and all ok again, I can see that the identity is CRTU-RU with the correct serial number. all oK.

Now to the problem:
I replaced  back the cmu200 front panel  to my CMU200. Booted with the CMU200 hard disk, system but surprisingly started as a CRTU-RU unit with version 5.21 instead of a CMU200 !!!! all options from the CMU are not recognized since they are not CRTU options... Also , I have never seen a CRTU-RU with version 5.21....
I performed a software update using "Software Update After Board replacement" , same problem, it still give me system CRTU-RU and the serial number from the CRTU-RU and not from the CMU200!
It seems that the CMU200 is infected by my procedure above....

where is this informtion about the system if it is a CRTU-RU or CMU-200 and the serial number?  and how can I recover?
man thanks in advanc!

Goerge

Clear the BIOS and see if that helps

Does the serial number match the CMU200 or is it the serial number from the CRTU-RU?

Hello,

no, it is the serial number from the CRTU-RU. I suspect that the digital board (A7) is holding this information now in my CMU but do not know how to revert to the CMU identity.
Thanks

Check "list software" in the debug menu. Perhaps one of the older versions is not affected?

Tried that too, switched software version, same problem. I also tried to build a new HD image from an image file I created a time ago from my working CMU200,  same problem. System is CRTU-RU .
Thanks

I experienced a similar problem. The serial number must be stored somewhere on the FMR. Maybe on one of the EEPROMS.

Hello,

I have replaced the FMR 6 board with one I had before from a working  CMU200 (spare part) but did not help, this CPU starts now as a CRTU-RU. I suspect the digital board(A7)  runs now as a CRTU system after the original CMU200 was in the CRTU-RU for test reasons.

Thanks
