Good voltage regulator tester?
« on: July 21, 2024, 11:43:05 pm »
Is there a good, inexpensive voltage regulator tester? Most transistor regulators I want to test are from 5 to 18 volt.

Probably better to buy a power supply and an electronic load. Those would be useful for other tasks as well, as opposed to a dedicated regulator tester.

You could look at a regulator  data sheet like the classic LM7805  and see what parameters  are critical for you and these theses.

Datasheet used to give clues in the test method but now they don'.t

A transistor tester that has a high-voltage voltage source in its circuit for testing zener diodes can easily be converted into a voltage regulator tester. A photo of such a modification is below. ;)
