Question about SIGLENT SDS1202 CNL+
« on: October 02, 2023, 07:09:11 am »
Hi all. I bought myself an oscilloscope SIGLENT SDS1202 CNL+. I looked at the information about the device. Tell me, is this the latest firmware? Is there a newer version?

Thank you. Is it specifically for the model with index +?

I think it is ok (based to siglent side) but there is bit weird version numbering... perhaps you can wait bit

ETA: Please look also this oscilloscope nameplate.  2GSa/s !!  What is going on...
And FW version number... on display. What is this?  It is 2.06.02.19
Can you translate this screen text to english or change oscilloscope language to english and then new image

ETA2: In China Siglent Headquarter side: SDS1000CNL+  last FW version is: V6.01.01.21R2
date 2020-06-03  But this need look carefully because now I do not know if this FW is localised to China.

EV of course. Cars with smoke exhaust pipes - go to museum. In Finland quite all electric power is made using nuclear, wind, solar and water.

Wises must compel the mad barbarians to stop their crimes against humanity. Where have the (strong)wises gone?

Here is also a man with such an oscilloscope. He couldn't get it to flash.....

Is it true there is real 2GSa/s max sampling speed?

Yes it looks like there is some differences between area in world. Example Siglent HQ side for China there datasheet do not display this 1202CNL+ at all. Also in Europe, least  I have never meet SDS1202CNL+ 2GSa/s

SDS1000CNL+ series FW is in Siglent Europe side and just as @tautech told.  Also it is from 2015.

But when look this .ADS file name there is not this + (if compare to CML+  FW  .ADS file name there is +  for + models for separate from OLD CML without +)
But also in these older times informations about FW versions was somehow more messed up than today models... so it well possible this is just ok.

If use this now available:
"
SDS1000CNL+ Series Digital Storage Oscilloscopes (Discontinued)
Firmware
SDS1000CNL Firmware - 5.01.02.32 (Release Date 07.09.15 )

"

Perhaps it is ok, but if this is my own case... I will wait more info. (There is now several days holidays in China so can not ask from HQ)

So this seems to be for the СML+ version and not the СNL+ version?

This I doubt, only with bug fixes.
When we look at HQ website, 200 MHz SDS1202CNL+ is indeed 2 GSa/s but only with 40 kPts mem depth, like all other CNL+ models.
https://int.siglent.com/products-overview/sds1000cnl/
HQ firmware page
https://int.siglent.com/download/firmwares/?ProId=41
Also lists 5.01.02.32 firmware.
https://int.siglent.com/upload_file/zip/firmware/Oscilloscope/SDS1000CML_SSP_V100R005B01D02P32.zip

However it is interesting the above is listed as 5.01.02.32 CML firmware but I do not think this is an error as some recovery packages we have can be used for CNL and CML models.
Therefore I believe 5.01.02.32 firmware is correct for SDS1202CNL+.
If not the checksum should reject installation.

Are you telling me that I won't break my oscilloscope if I try to install the wrong firmware? Will the bootloader check the checksum and if it does not match, will it stop the firmware process?

It should.
However if you would rather play it safe wait until next week when we can have advice from HQ tech support.
Email to HQ sent.

This IS interesting. Just same FW version number (LeCroy what also sell rebranded Siglent made oscilloscopes).
Do you have owned it from new... if not, who have updated FW previously, or is this current FW in your scope just as it have been from factory.

I'm the second owner of the oscilloscope, but I don't think anyone has updated the firmware before me. Since I found another person who has the same model and the same firmware version....

And where can it be downloaded?

The last FW that I ever saw was SDS1000A_6.01.01.21R2.ADS (CRC32: DEA426D9), that can be flashed in a CNL+ or CML+.

Nowhere apparently.  :-//
Guessing it's for the last CNL+ HW version/s and was told it is only a CNL+ version.

I haven't but since it's a SDS1000A type it should work.

I won’t risk updating my oscilloscope.... If something doesn’t work out, I’ll be left without the device  :-BROKE.
