Siglent SDL1020X-E high-pitch noise
« on: July 18, 2023, 12:56:23 am »
Has anyone else noticed a high-pitch noise coming from their Siglent E-load SDL1020X-E?

Only the youngest 3 (age 23-25) out of a dozen of us can hear it. The high-pitch noise seems to randomly start or stop whenever the left arrow or right arrow buttons are pressed. This only happens when we're providing current to the E-load.

We really like this product but the high-pitch noise issue has deterred us from buying one after we gave it a trial. Did we just happen to trial a faulty one or is this an inherent problem with this product?

Um the SPD is a power supply not a load… you weren’t connecting it to another power supply were you?

I tried an experiment with my SDL1020X-E (upgraded to be a 1030X).

I loaded it down to 4A (120W at 30V) and monitored the unit for sound using my Audio Control SA3050A Audio 1/3 Octave RTA (has 30 bands from 25Hz to 20KHz), this has a sensitivity of ~50dBm using its OEM calibrated microphone. It did not register any noise from the SDL under load and when pressing buttons, of course the noise could have been higher than 20KHz, I used to be able to hear to about 24KHz when I was younger, now it is only about 12KHz, that and the ringing in my ears....

The only noise present were the key beeps (which I personally like to have turned on, usually)

I've got a similar issue, documented with two videos and spectrum/waterfall chart besides it;

https://www.eevblog.com/forum/testgear/siglent-sdl1020x-e-high-pitch-(16khz)-noise-upon-button-press-(defect)/

It happens sporadically, sometimes until the next button press occurs, sometimes for a fraction of a second.
Independent of the button (all buttons affected).
Independent if a load is connected or not.
