Protek 2700 Power Meter

I bought this meter new and it started acting up. Never was a real great meter but good for a ballpark with low frequencies. This is the first time I have had it apart.

Can is made from two parts. One brass. Soldered together. The two circuit boards are also soldered together.

The meter became very unstable. It has not been abused. When I removed the can, there is some crazy rework in there. Once apart, the thing started working. Spent a fair amount of time trying to find a cracked joint in this mess.

Really, not that bad for low frequency. They claim +/-10% of full scale from 10MHz to 1GHz. Full scale ranges are 2W, 200mW, 20mW and 2mW.
Shown with 10,1 and -1dBm.

Shown with 2G, 10dBm. Not so great. There are 4 pots to align it but I doubt there is anything to trim it for flatness. I suspect that's what the crazy pile of soldered together mess was for.
